I recently became really interested in wearing lipstick. I purchased a few shades from Mac but would wear them occasionally. I started feeling more comfortable wearing lipstick and found I felt more confident. But Mac is expensive and as I began to follow beauty blogs I soon learned that many colors could be duped, which was good especially for someone on a budget who is also looking to experiment with color. I stubbled upon NYX and although everyone raves I wasn't that wowed. 3 out of the 6 shades I purchased I really like but to me they apply more streaking/sheer and have to be built up. When I decided to try Wet n Wild as suggested by a few bloggers, I was blown away. I love that it feels more thick and takes less for me to have full coverage. As a women of color, my lips are a mix of brown and pink so sheer colors don't give me enough coverage. Plus I have a beauty mark on my lips that has to be covered too. With wet n wild, none of these issues were a concern. It's supposed to be matte but I'd say it's more semi-matte, which is fine with me as it feels creamy when applied and can be easily blended. It barely feathers, stays on for the advertised 4 hrs and is highly pigmented. I was hooked and was determined to track down every single shade. At $2 a shade, I was able to get the entire set of 26 colors for less than the price of 2 Mac colors (as I caught many of them during a 40% off sale). Plus there's a couple Mac dupes. I made sure to grab multiples of those because they are always out of stock. I even went out and bought all of the Wet n Wild Fergie Creme lipsticks as well. It is a great for anyone but especially as a starting point for anyone looking to give lipstick a try. I was able to make all the colors work even the lighter ones by adding a touch of a darker line around the edge. The only con would be the packing as the lipstick can and will get nicked while putting the cap on. But for the price, who cares?! My faves I even bought back ups for just in case I run out or lose it, which would be no big deal due to the price. I wish they'd add some colors or release limited runs so I can add more to my collection lol. I now only buy Mac if it is a color WnW does not have. Perfection with NYX lip liners. You can't go wrong. $2 is a small risk for a big payoff so go try it if you haven't already.
