I have a great MAC palette from years ago (duty free special) that came with ploof!, swish and satin taupe and I think they make such an amazing combination… definitely my favorite. But anyway satin taupe is such an amazing color and has endless uses…

Anything? 🙂 It’s so versatile!
Just wore it to a wedding yesterday as a wash over TFSI and black liner (cheap drugstore brand), mascara (one by one) and a bit of blush (the blusher side from Pink Power MSF. Can’t get enough of it!). Oh, and the highlighter portion of the MSF on the brow bone.
Can’t wait to see the other comments, it’s just such a staple for me!

I wear it any and every way. It’s my favorite MAC eyeshadow. It can be worn alone, or on lid, or crease, with darker colors, lighter colors – I just love it so 🙂 Goes with any lippie too IMO.

This is such a staple in my professional kit and my own personal makeup bag. I can think of sooo many ways to use it but one of my favourite looks is as follows. Satin taupe all over the eyelid and lower lashline. Black gel liner smudged along the upper and lower lashlines and in the waterlines. Black tied eye shadow over the gel liner, around the eye, smudged and winged out. Loads of black mascara on upper and lower lashes. False lashes (optional). well dressed blush on the apples of the cheeks and viva glam gaga lipstick or gloss on the lips.

Todays Eyes: Hush ccb just above crease
Grain all over the lid
SATIN TAUPE in crease
Sweet Lust in center of the lid and lower lashline
Winged black eyeliner! So brightening!

I actually wore this yesterday!

Urban Decay Tinted Moisturizer in “Bulletproof.”
Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer in “Tan” to my dark circles.
Dior “Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fresh Powder” to set the t-zone.
MAC “Nuance” mineralized blush on the cheeks.
MAC “Mineralize Charge Water” to keep everything nice a dewy.

LORAC Eye primer.
MAC Expensive Pink e/s all over the lid with a 227 brush.
MAC SATIN TAUPE e/s to lower lash line focusing on the outer part for a day smokey look.
Stila Smudgestick liner in “Stingray” to upper waterline.
Benefit “They’re Real!” mascara to lashes.
Clinique “Bottom Lash” mascara to bottom lashes.

CHANEL Long-wear lipstick in “Rose Garnet”

Satin Taupe is my all time favorite MAC eyeshadow and it’s also my go to e/s for super quick looks: one of my faves is Satin Taupe all over the lid, Soft Brown in the crease and Dazzle Light on the brow bone. Finish with Blacktrack in the upper lashline and finish off with any mascara I happen to have near by. Then Dollface on the cheeks and Subculture l/l topped off with Creme de la Femme on the lips.

I only own four MAC shadows…jealousy wakes being one of them. I dont like the textures on their shadows except for Satin Taupe. I put Satin Taupe on the lid and then use Sugar Pill Weekender on the upper lash area with a smudge brush….this method makes weekender really stand out. People always comments on it. I have those Asian monolids and have to do the shadows differently and cannot pile the colors on like everyone else.

I wear Satin Taupe a lot. My favorite look is Shroom for the highlight, Style Snob on the lid, Satin Taupe on the outer third, and a MAC matte for the crease I forget the name of (maybe Blackberry?). It makes an awesome neutral taupe monochromatic eye.

I love Satin Taupe. I usually wear it with something like Naked Lunch or Omega on the lid, Satin Taupe on the outer corner and in the crease and under my lower lashes and then any old thing as a highlight (Shroom, Phloof, Vapour). It’s also great as a wash on the lid and then more heavily on the outer corner/crease and black liner. Such a great and versatile colour. Works with any colour blush, any colour lipstick (I would thing – I tend to wear cool tones of both).

I wear this color a lot. I last wore it on the lid with MAC Sketch in the crease, Mac Texture between the crease and browbone to blend out Sketch, and MAC Ricepaper as a highlight. It’s one of my favorite looks. I wore it to my mom’s wedding last year with MAC Shadowy Lady in the crease. I love it.

I’m always amazed at just how many people love this eyeshadow. I find it bland, banal and completely dupeable by any number of brands.

It was given to me as a gift and I used it, it cracked accidentally, repressed it, used it up… and never repurchased it. I also thought the pigmentation was pretty poor, particularly when mixed with a lighter shade.

Pretty sure I’m the *only* person that feels this way though!

You’re not quite the only one 🙂 I have Satin Taupe and I do love it swatched. But on me, I can’t say I love it. I want to love it but something always just looks ‘off’ with my eyes when I wear ST. I don’t know what it is. My face looks dull. Tired. Blah. It does not light up my face, does not have the wow factor. I wish I could love it more!

I have the exact same problem with Satin Taupe. Everyone loves it and says how amazing it is so it was one of the 1st few MAC shadows I bought but I just ended up really disappointed.

I’m a fan of ST, but I agree with you that it’s duped by many other shadows – including a couple of “close enoughs” by Elf. I don’t expect to buy it again when I run out, because I have several other shades that do for me what it does.

Yes! I couldnt agree more! While I love the color, the finish makes it very limiting to use if you have a shallow, smooth lid area. (I do think it’s absolutely amazing for how easy it to use for people with ideal eye shapes/bone structure.)

Other than wearing it on the lid, I find if I put it in the crease and then blend something darker (my fave is Knight Divine or Copperplate) into the socketline, it’s a nice departure from the usual BF color (like Bamboo, Cork, Soft Brown, etc.). The duller finish helps to bring down that crazy silver sheen ST has.

I think I can safely say Satin Taupe is in most MAC lover’s neutral/everyday palette, because it’s so versatile. I tend to buy so many MAC shadows that I tend to forget the older ones in favor of the newer ones, but Satin Taupe is one I’ll never forget (along with Phloof!, my all time favorite highlight color). On lazy days or oops-I-overslept days, an all over wash of Satin Taupe with a little Phloof! in the tearduct area are lovely, and I swear goes a long way to erase that no sleep, hangover look.

Hm, how WOULDN’T I wear Satin Taupe?! Being my first eyeshadow from MAC and the only one I had in my collection for many years, it is by far my favorite. It’s in my “go-to,” impossible-to-mess-up trio consisting of Era on the lid, Satin Taupe in the crease, and Brule to blend it out. Or even Brule on the lid and Satin Taupe in the crease..Virgin from UD on the lid and ST in the crease…the list goes on. LOVE this shadow!

I wear it over my constructivist paint pots to smoke out the edges, for a sultry look when going out! On other days thoughs, I usually work a little pit of satin taupe into my crease! I love this eye shadow!

Love it in so many different looks – it’s definitely in my top 5 MAC shadows (probably top 3). The last time I wore it was a couple of days ago for work:

Phloof or Shroom (can’t remember which) to highlight and on inner corner
Satin Taupe all over the lid and blended up softly into the highlight shade
Urban Decay Perversion in the outer crease/v
Smokey black pencil liner (Urban Decay Perversion I think)
MAC Well Dressed blush
MAC Patisserie lipstick

I wear this all the time for my neutral smokey everyday. I use shroom as a highlighter and beauty marked or espresso in the crease with satin taupe on the lid. Really it works with almost anything!

I’ve been wearing Satin Taupe a lot lately! Usually with Naked Lunch on the middle of the lid, Satin Taupe in the outer third, and some shimmery highlight color on my tearduct. Blacktrack Fluidline on top & bottom lashlines (with a bit of a shimmery brown shadow smudged in the lower lashline, like UD Smog). I first thought that Satin Taupe was a bit, well, blah, but I realized how subtly gorgeous it is!!!

My favorite look ever is with Amber Lights on the lid, Satin Taupe in the crease, a lil black eyeshadow in the outer corner and Vanilla as a highlight.
You can even turn the first 2 colours around to make an nice bronzy smokey eye.

Blush: MAC Style

Lips: MAC Shy Girl + Florabundance Lipglass

I wear Satin Taupe the same way I wear brightly-colored eyeshadows on a normal school/work day. I take a shadow brush and thickly line my eyes with it. Or I go smoky with Black Tied.

Wooow dude, I am wearing it right now!!! So I will tell you what else I have on! 🙂 I have Jardin Aries pigment on the lid (melon or tan could substitute.) And then Satin Taupe in the crease and I used expensive pink as a blending color, then just a highlight! 🙂 And I have peachy pink blush on and pinky lips. 🙂

I would just wear it all over the lid with black liner, lots of mascara, a soft blush and nude lips for a simple look to wear out at night or to a party.

For my everyday eye I usually wear Naked Lunch all over the lid, Satine Taupe in the crease, and a light gold (from the Sleek Storm palette) in my inner corner.

I wear Satin Taupe every single day and here is my everyday look:

Prolongwear Foundation and Concealer in NW50 (mixed)
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Tipsy
NARS Blush in Luster (highlight)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Style Snob e/s (lid)
Satin Taupe e/s (crease)
Dark Edge e/s (outer V)
Modelette and Femme Fi e/s (highlight)
Feline Khol Power Eye Pencil
Undercurrent Pearlglide Intense Liner
MUFE Aqua Smokey Lash Mascara

Moth To Flame d/g

I made a quad that I am quite proud of that includes Satin Taupe. It’s my ‘go-to’ for a darker, polished look that goes with almost everything.

It includes Vanilla (highlight), Satin Taupe (lid), Sketch (crease), and Smut (outer v and liner).

My favorite cheek and lip combination with this eye look is Pet Me mineralized blush and Snob lipstick with Docile lipglass.

This is my favorite color especially for use on a daily basis. It combines very well with the tone of my skin and it always leaves me looking healthy, and is not a heavy color. I have light skin and small eyes. So I like to use this color across the eyelid to give the impression that my eyes are bigger. Then I smoky with black, blue, green, purple etc. … Any color combine with Satin Taupe. The Satin Taupe was the first color I discovered that is great for me, both for daytime and evening events. I use it almost every day. Not live without it.

I’m wearing it right now! I have it on the outer 2/3 of my lid and applied darker in the crease with vanilla pigment on the inner 1/3 and inner corner of the lid. It’s slightly smokey but still appropriate for daytime!

I love it as a one colour wash look (or with shroom in the inner corner to wake me up) as a ‘panic look’
But I wore it the other day all over the lid and MCRA foiled in the inner corner and inner portion of the lid (I know, shoot me! But if you create a paste in the pan with mixing medium, and pat it on then I don’t get any fallout and it’s really pretty), sketch in the crease and blended up with yaby hibiscus. Sketch on the lowe lashline and sassy grass pressed over the to of wite eyeliner on the waterline, and arabic style eyeliner (point on the inner corner and winged out)

satin taupe is seriously the best color ever. best single shadow for a sexy smokey eye (along with black liner and mascara).
sometimes i pair it with showtopper for extra intensity

Painterly Paint Pot over the entire lid and Espresso generously in the crease and the outer “c” (outer V but in C-shape, using 217). Then some Naked Lunch in the corner of the eye and as a highlight, and Satin Taupe on the lid blended towards (and partly over) Espresso.

One of my favorite go-to looks, it is incredibly easy and quick, but also quite classy and wearable.

I wear it on the lid with Scene in the outer V and Quarry in the crease – a Mac MUA suggested this, and I get a lot of compliments when I do it. But it’s also great in the outer V with a lighter color like Naked Lunch on the lid and crease (I have deep set eyes with a naturally dark crease, so I’ve learned to wear paler colors in my crease to bring my eyes out a bit).

Satin Taupe is also great as a smudge on the lower lashes or for setting and softening a black eyeliner on top. I’m sure it’s also great in the crease for those who can take dark colors there.

I’m curious: does anyone else feel it has a slight plummy undertone? It definitely does on me, and it looks like it in the pot, too. If I wear it with purple, it picks up that undertone even more, and can be used with colors like Fig in the outer V to make a really flattering plummy/purply look.

It also looks fantastic all over the eye, with a little matte black in the outer V to deepen it.

Satin Taupe is one of my favorite shadows!
my favorite satin taupe incorporated look is with Warming Trend on the lid, Shroom as an inner corner highlight and the first third of the lid (focusing more near the lashes), then I use Satin Taupe with a light hand as a crease color and Blackberry to accent the outer V. (All MAC shades)

I wear satin taupe with nearly everything. Today I used woodwinked on the lid with satin taupe in the crease. LOVE satin taupe on the lid with print in the crease for a smokier look. satin taupe looks great by itself blended over the lid to the crease.

I only have 2 MAC eyeshadows and this is one of them for a reason! Love this shadow. I usually wear it in the crease with a champagne color on the lid. Just yesterday I applied a sheer wash of Urban Decay’s Asphyxia (bright purple) on the lids, then put Satin Taupe all over the lid and crease. The purple hints in S.T came out because of the purple underneath, and it looked like a totally different color in the crease!

I would wear Satin Taupe this way

Satin Taupe on the lid
Naked Lunch as inner eye hightlight and highlight under brow
Sketch on the crease.

I usually use shroom or naked lunch as highlighter and all over the lid, then satin taupe, but not completely all over the lid and then I add mystery or showstopper in the crease 🙂 I love that look.

I was already wearing this today – Revlon Matte eyeshadow in Pink Innocence all over the eye up to the eyebrow, Satin Taupe in the crease and blended up to the brow bone, UD 24/7 liner in Rockstar on the lash line. Finished with lots of Mascara, Tarte cheek stain in Tipsy for blush and Kat Von D lipgloss in Stormy. Love Satin Taupe, such a versitile eye shadow!!

I LOVE Satin Taupe! I find that it works for so many different looks. I used it recently for two different looks:

1. Painterly paint pot (base), Satin Taupe (lid), UD Fishnet (crease), Vanilla (highlight), Hot Gossip lipstick and Pink Swoon on cheeks.

2.Painterly paint pot (base), Satin Taupe (lid), Notoriety (crease), Crystal (inner corner), Vanilla (highlight), UD Zero (to line upper lashline), Satin Taupe (outer lower lashline), Crystal (inner lower lashline), Craving lipstick and Pink Swoon on cheeks.

I wore it this past weekend to a party and I put on Painterly paint pot, Satin Taupe straight on the lid, blend it out so that it becomes a bit smokey, Rice Paper as a highlight. For the rest of the face I used Ladyblush, highlighted cheekbones with MSF Soft and Gentle, and very soft pink lips. It’s a glowy, healthy look.

Would not wear it – it’s one of those with too much red in in that always results in giving me that crying eye look with my coloring and really bright green eyes (naturally – not with colored contacts).

I love to wear ST with either Naked Lunch or Dalliance on the lid, Bamboo or Kid as light crease color and ST to deepen the crease/outer v area. Blanc Type as transition color and Shroom to highlight. Engraved on the upper lash line and lightly on the lower lash line, then mascara.

It’s a sophisticated, grown-up combo that’s perfect for the office imo.

I love Satin Taupe. It’s one of my favorite eyeshadows ever and it’s also one of my more recent. My go-to eyeshadow look it Phloof! on the lid, Satin Taupe in the crease, and Black Tied in the outer corner. Simple but lovely.

If you pair Satin Taupe with Dazzlelight, you get a very simple, quick and natural look. I’m wearing that way right now, because I had my oral language exam in the morning, so I had had to make a natural make-up..

IMO Satin Taupe is one of those colors that can be worn with pretty much anything.

Here are some of my favorite combos with Satin Taupe:
Cinderfella MES and Next to Nothing.
Perky paintpot, Melon pigment, Expensive Pink and Sweet Sienna. (my fav combo)
Shadowy Lady and Illegal Cargo.
Tempting and Woodwinked.

It looks really nice with Expensive Pink or Magnetic Fields or Smoke & Diamonds or in a smoky combo with Knight Devine; even with greens like Humid and Swimming.

Wore this today with MAC Smut in the crease, NYX Highlight on the browbone, black eyeliner on the upper lashline and on the waterlines, and MAC Half ‘N Half on the lips. Easy smokey eye/nude lip look 🙂

I would used UD primer all over the lid, then apply Naked pigment by MAC on the lid and use Satin Taupe as a contour for the crease and as a liner for the bottom lashes. Then using a UD eye pencil in zero, I’d tight line the eyes and create a “cat eye” on the upper lashes, smudging it out with pencil brush. ^_^
