What we're Wearing

What We’re Wearing, Vol. 044

I was testing out Guerlain’s Les Aquas eyeshadow palette (new for spring) along with Tarina Tarantino Spark of Envy Eyeliner on the lower lash line!  I was totally surprised by the brightness of the palette–you just don’t see a lot of vibrant color from high-end/luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, Guerlain, etc.

What was your favorite look you wore this week?

  1. Eyes: MAC Indianwood paint pot, topped with the pink shade in Clinique Strawberry Fudge Duo. The darker shade in the same duo in the crease, and Sephora Matte #04 single e/s in the outer v. Stila Stay All Day in Black on the upper lashline, Sephora Keep Kohl in Black on the waterline, and black mascara.

Cheeks and lips: Revlon Berry Rich blush and MAC Spice It Up! l/s.

Lately I have been putting my newly acquired MAC holiday products to work. I start off with Morning Frost paint pot on the lids, then pat on Woodsmoke to seal it. I used wedge in the crease to blend out, then Baby, its Cold…as an inner corner and brow highlight. I proceeded with Brownborder eye liner, then topped the look off with Benefit Bad Gal Mascara. For the cheeks, I used Snowglobe beauty powder to add a nice wintery glow. I topped the look off by applying Mac Lusterglass Little Vi on the lips. Such a good color, I am so sad it’s gone.

Christine that looks really lovely! I’ve got to ask though, if you had to choose between Les Aquas and Ombre de Nuit, what would you recommend? I’ve been planning to get Ombre de Nuit, but as soon as I saw the news about Les Aquas, I hesitated to purchase, wondering how they compare, and which might be the better buy. Have you got any advice, or am I jumping the gun for your reviews?

  4. I did a very bright look that was supposed to be matte, but didn’t turn out that way. I used NYX’s Mellow Yellow on the lid, a matte bright blue from the Claire’s Peacock palette, and NYX’s Lagoon Sparkle to blend them together, creating a pretty gradient effect. I lined my lower lash line with BYS’ Neon Blue liner. I’m quite proud of how pretty it turned out.

Sounds simple (it was simple) but what I wore a lot this week (maybe last week too) was WnW Nutty on the lid with Mac Charcoal Brown in the crease, Orb to highlight/blend and Gosh Metallic Brass pencil liner. Mac Desert Rose on my cheeks and I went back and forth with Mac Plumful or Clarins Lilac Pink on my lips.

    today i’m wearing my usual:
    neutrogena healthy skin foundation
elf blush in a shimmery peach
    black gel winged liner (tarte)
    lipbalm
i’m in high school still, so it’s casual makeup most of the time

  9. The only look I’ve done so far this week was when I painted my face to look like Emolga (a Pokémon)…it was genuinely scary-looking in person. Like, I couldn’t look in the mirror. I was an alien clown, not an adorable Electric/Flying type! Oh, well, I tried.

Yesterday, I wore a look I call “smoky mocha eyes”. I put NYX’s Iced Mocha jumbo pencil all over my lids, Iced Mocha eyeshadow over that, and blended the edges by putting matte brown shadow in my creases. I put dark brown liquid liner on my top lashline, and Urban Decay’s Bourbon on my bottom lashline. I put a matte beige shadow on my browbones, silver liner on my inner corners, and finished with mascara.
P.S. How do you get MAC’s duochrome eyeshadows to show the duochrome when applied? I have a Club-like pressed eyeshadow and I’ve failed to get the blue-green shimmer to show up on me.

    • I’ve never had to anything special to use MAC’s duochrome shades!

I had trouble with Club. I finally used the MAC 239 to pat it on, then after I finished and had blended everything, I took Stila #9 brush (big fluffy brush) and tapped it in Club and brushed it over. It didnt make it darker but the duochrome showed more.
Stars n Rockets and Gorgeous Gold did not give me the same trouble that Club did.

  12. Kristabelle

My favorite was a super easy smoky eye from Kevyn Aucoin’s Making Faces.
LC Candy Eyed Primer, then creamy black liner on the inner rims and worked into the upper and lower lashlines (L’oreal Lineur Intense). Smudged out to about halfway up the lid. Then black shadow (I used UD Blackout) blended over that a little further out. Finally, a brown-grey (mix of Cork and Print) blended over everything and into the crease. Super easy to do but I got a lot of compliments on it.

Lots of blending and blending with this look: MAC Imaginary paint pot on lid and into crease; Bobbi Brown Black Plum for liner and on outer “v” and Iced Mauve from crease to brow line. In center of crease, smudged the darkest shade of the BB Midnight Metallics outward, and then used it as liner for the lower lid and then put NARS bronze eye liner over it. For lips I used Dior Rouge Dior in Mitzah Lilac; on my pigmented lips, the shade is a soft pinky lilac. For blush, a BB cheek stain in lilac, Pink Shimmer Brick and then NARS Oasis, all blended.

This combination of colors intensified my blue eyes and brought out the black iris and rings.

Mine was a simple look for work/school, with many of my staple colors. I should seriously start using up my other colors.

Face: MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC35, pressed powder, MAC blot powder
Eyes: MAC Sable e/s on lid, Contrast e/s on upper lashline (blended/smoked out then applied again to look as a liner), Brule to highlight, curled lashes with Shu Uemura curler, Maybelline waterproof mascara
Cheeks: The Body Shop powder bronzer (matte) to contour and MAC Fleur Power (my HG)
Lips: MAC Cosmo lipstick and Revlon lipgloss in Nude Lustre

Will you posting a review of the Guerlain Les Aquas? It looks gorgeous!

My fave look this week was a white/silvery lid with ACE from the UD 15th Anniversary palette in the crease and blended up. I used a very dark black eyeliner on the upper lid only and Smashbox Lash DNA mascara!

  17. Michelle

MUFE HD Foundation 115, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner in busy signal all over the eye lid, Mac Mulch eyeshadow over busy signal, mac shroom on the brow bone. Mac coffee eyeliner on the upper and lower lashline and benefit’s bad gal mascara. Mac’s stunner blush. The lips I kept nude.

  18. I think this is my favourite look of yours; the teal shades are vibrant. Also, I love how you used the liner – it almost looks like the same colour you used in your crease.

I’m still hooked on Les Perles and to boot, I purchased Nars’ Damage after you reviewed it last week:)

I just got Tarina Tarantino Sparklicity glitter liquid liner (the black shade), and so I’ve been adding that to my normal neutral eye looks, on top of my standby Zero 24/7 liner. I’ve really been liking it, the glitter is very rainbow-y!

  20. I managed to lay my hands on a L’Oreal HIP duo in Electrified when I was in the US, so I used that with the lighter side on my lids and the darker side in the outer corners. On my face, MAC Tea Petal, Harmony for contour, a teeny bit of BB shimmer brick in bronze, and Tarte Smooth Operator lightly dusted over (mainly my T-zone).

Face of the day pictures and breakdown, please check out my blog entry:
