Bobbi Brown @ Rachel Roy

“Eyes are intense, covered in rich velvet…Scarlet and black create a modern smolder…” - Wendy Rowe for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

A 1930s Egyptian influence weaves together fashion and beauty at the Fall 2010 Rachel Roy Fashion Show. Peacock prints are lifted from feminine silhouettes and translated into bold, beautiful makeup. Iridescent “peacock feather” eyes gleam in denim and burgundy metallic shades from brow to lower lash line with a hint of aqua on inner corners, ultimately lined with a black kohl pencil. An even, dewy finish of the skin, softly defined pink cheek, and sheer beige lip allow the eyes to be the star of this show.

    HOLY MOLY……SCARRRRRRRYYYYYY!

  3. KC says:

Honestly, I think its ugly. I mean the execution is flawless, but the end result is ugly.

  4. cold blooded evil chipmunk says:

OMG, the model on the left side looks horrible!!!!!!!!!!scary looking

  5. 53 says:

Black Velvet Fall ’10?? Denim Rose Pallete?? sounds interesting! Can’t wait to see it!

  6. Anitacska says:

In all honesty, none of these backstage beauty pictures appeal to me. Too overdone or too plain.

  7. Frances says:

This is amazing! Why can’t BB do stuff like this more often instead of Nude : Part 394987458979589347537459739?

  8. Tatyana says:

    Geez, they are scary looking.

  9. Coonie says:

Not even a tiny bit of airbrushing?

    Tiny bit?

  10. Dusty says:

i remember seeing this post when it was about the hair and now commenting on the make-up (because it was a hair post) lol. i don’t see ancient egypt in here at all though! it looks kind of 70′s glam/goth to me (the hair looks a bit mullet-esque which emediatly makes me think of ziggy stardust).

maybe a little siouxsie sioux inspired? i like the opalescent quality of the inner eye with all that black though, that’s a nice touch. other than that, this looks like something i would have done a million times in high school (on my “robert smith” fridays). :)

  11. Fuffi says:

Sorry but most og this “models” are super ugly! Cant understand how they become models!

  12. taz says:

    Makeup styles perfect for:

    a) racoons
    b) the munsters
    c) edward scissorhands
    d) willy wonka
    e) ALL OF THE ABOVE

  13. yvette says:

must have really been a stretch for BB to do something that’s not natural.

  14. Angi says:

Ewww. Sorry, this is awful. Anytime the makeup makes the models look horrible there is obviously something very wrong with it.

  15. HebrideanSprite says:

To me they don’t look egyptian at all, they resemble Raccoons. I think it could be much more flattering than the way it was done.

  16. Krys says:

I don’t care for the overall look but ugh the model on the left in the first and solo in the second picture, her skin just looks so blah!

  17. Luisafer says:

    wow!!! 100% for the show!!!
Love the idea, would do it a lot more tone down…

  18. Bianca says:

Always wondered what scary harpy makeup looked like.

  19. Natalie says:

Didn’t know BB can do looks like this! :D Honestly, I prefer MAC’s version

  20. Artemy says:

Those black eyes really enhance the gap between her teeth in the bottom picture.

  21. Kate says:

    One word: UGLY!

  22. Michele says:

Beyond Ugly! Appropriate for a Steven King movie – YES!

  23. Carmen says:

this model is ugly and gap-toothed,and the makeup does not help at ALL. I’ll pass.

  24. Sarah says:

At first, I thought the idea was an intentionally ugly sort of thing. I also don’t get how an “Egyptian” influence (because it’s black?) has anything to do with the plaid she seems to be wearing.

  25. I’m sorry, but I have yet to be impressed by any of the makeup looks on the runways this year (not just your posts, of course) This one is horrid- it amazes me what some artists will do in the name of Avant Garde. If I did put a picture of this on my website or in my portfolio, I bet large sums of money I’d be ripped up one side and down the other.

    Just saying!

    • I typed that out wrong, I didn’t mean “If I did put a picture of this on my website” to mean anything about you- I meant to say if I did this look and posted a photo of it, people would be talking about what an amateur I was…hopr you get my meaning :) BTW, got my Flirt! package, can’t wait to play!!!

  26. Vero says:

    Horrible looks!!

  27. Frances says:

Jeez, why are people making such catty comments about the model?

  28. Claudia says:

Oooh my godness! The ugliest girl I’ve seen in the last time!

  29. Chai says:

This look is so disappointing in my opinion. Assuming that it was a professional makeup artist, this looks like it was applied by a 12-year-old-new-to-make-up-who’s-trying-for-the-smokey-eye look! Yikes!

  30. Lydia says:

    Oh this is ugly! haha
