22 thoughts on “Look Book – What would you pair with MAC Gilt by Association Eyeshadow?

  1. I used this in a look after I got it. It goes with my hair (dark brown with blonde highlights).

I would use it with MAC greasepaint stick in black as a base. Feline eye liner on upper lash line and water line. Orpheus eye liner on lower lash line. A layer of Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara and a layer of Dazzle lash. MAC Warm Soul Mineralize Blush, Honeylove lipstick and Baby Sparks Dazzleglass. I left everything but the eyes more or less neutral so that its all about the eye makeup.

Thanks for asking this, Ive been wondering myself! I broke down and had to own this beauty! Since Im so pale, Ive actually found wearing it by itself is smokey enough for me without a black base. MAC Vanilla pigment is a great highlighter with this. Ive been thinking I would try pairing it with browns in the near future, too.

  3. Sarah M

I would smoke out the eyes with a black eye shadow and black kohl pencil. Id then pair this with little bronzer on the cheeks and a nude pink lipstick.

      Miss Sarah M right Perfect
This eyeshadow doesn’t nothing more on the face
It’s so amazing that u just have let the eyes do the talking

  4. I was wondering this exact same thing! More color combos please! I LOVE Gilt and Ive paired it with romp before but I would love to see other ideas. I would keep my lips neutral though with this shadow.

My look was pretty, smokey, but very work and school appropriate:

Painterly paint pot as a base.
UD 24/7 black eyeliner on top waterline and top lash line, smudged out.
Guilt By Association all over the lid and lower lash line with a damp brush (not enough to foil the shadow, though).
Honeylust in the crease to warm it up just a bit.
    Brule as a highlight.

Nicole, that look sound so pretty! I’m going to have to try it! I don’t have the UD products, but I can dupe them with my MAC stuff. Thanks for the idea!!

Youre welcome! It did turn out really nicely–a smokey look that wasnt too over the top for daytime. Gilt By Association paired really well with Honeylust.

NYX jumbo pencil in black bean as a base
    Gilt all over the lid
Then NAR’s fez (like MAC bronze) on outer blended into crease
NARS’s nightbreed to define outer v
    gilt smudged under lash line
Then finally reflects antique gold over smudged gilt

Blush: NYX’s nutmeg (a subtle peachy blush)
    LIPS: NYX’s circe

  8. I have this shadow, and I just like to stare at it for now… cause I’m not sure how to wear it, lol! So these comments will help

    I’m thinking
    NYX Black Bean Jumbo pencil
GBA MES on lid, lower lashline
AmberLights in the crease (which I need to buy!)

Not sure how to wear Young Punk either!

  9. scarlettholly

I saw a great look today on specktra using amber lights and then gilt by assoc to smoke out the crease – it looked beautiful. am definitely trying tomorrow.

FACE: foundation – a mix of ruby and millie and botanics foundation.

Lipgloss:SEan Paul lipgloss in no2(taupy brown shade)

  12. Jessica

blackground pp as a base. not completely all over the lid though, just as a very thick liner, and blended up just before the crease.
gilt eyeshadow patted on top of base
blended out with satin taupe in the crease
    vanilla eyeshadow as a highlight
naked lunch on the inner corner/tear duct
a bit of feline kohl power on upper lash line
for face, i used nars laguna bronzer and a bit of Mac dainty as blush
for lips, Maybelline color sensational in Born with it

i just loved how the eyes turned out. i just picked up gilt the last couple of days and had to try it out today!

  13. Fatima

I wore this last night and got loads of compliments:
Bare study all over the lid as a base followed by brule all over.
Satin taupe smoked out in the crease
Gilt also smoked out in the outer corner/crease for a darker effect
Lined my eyes with feline and diorshow blackout mascara on the lashes
highlighted with both ricepaper and vanilla pigment couldnt make up my mind 😛
oh and i ran a brush with satin taupe under my lower lashes for extra depth.

  14. robyn

greasepaint stick in crease blended leaving just the centre of the lid then gilt on top then i put UD deluxe shadow in honey in the area of the lid which i left and blend a little, line bottom lash line and mascara

looks nice and smokey bronze but then a pop of yellow in centre

  15. Tami

I used this today with Groundwork PP as a base, Gilt by Association all around my eyes, Sexpresso on the crease and Heaven as my highlight (both of these shades are fron the Too Faced Natural Eye Kit) and UD 24/7 liner in Zero on my inner rim. On my cheeks I used On a Mission blush and for lips Night Violet l/s and Blackfire g/g. I guess I was in a dark mood today,

  16. I wear this look very frequently for a glam gold look…
(all products mac unnless otherwise noted)

    – smashbox photofinish light primer
    -studio fix fluid nc15
    -loose powder nc20
-fix plus on #187 and blend lightly all over face (less cakey!)

-Painterly Paint Pot all over lid.
-Gilt by association e/s all over the lid
-Sweet liaison eye shadow suite, use the brown for the outer v to deepen the color. and the white in the crease to blend out hard edges.

-line under eye with lemon chiffon shadestick
    – rimmel sexy curves mascara x 2 coats
