Lips: Cherry lipliner, Russian Red l/s, and Russian Red l/g on top.
Cheeks: Strada
Eyes: Bare Canvas as a base, Gorgeous Gold e/s all over lid, Nylon e/s in inner corner. Blacktrack to line the upper and lower edges of your eyes. Add mascara!
Don’t be afraid if Gorgeous Gold looks very yellow. I promise it looks great when the look is done.
That sounds gorgeous! What a great eyeshadow combination, too
OMG Christine I’m so glad you posted this question. I have this lipstick and haven’t worn it in so long because I needed ideas for the eyes.
Tekoa – I will definitely try the eye makeup you put. I don’t have Gorgeous Gold…but hey, I needed an excuse to buy something from MAC anyway
I’m glad it came right in the time you needed it, Shefali!
Gorgeous Gold is a must-have, so get it
I love this post–because I bought Russian Red and have yet to use it. I bought Brick Red to use with it. Looking forward to hearing people’s suggestions.
I’m glad this post will help you
Russian Red is so gorgeous, but it can be intimidating so I’m looking forward to suggestions for myself, too!
LOL! I ALSO bought it, but have yet to wear it! It’s such a classic color, I had to have it.
I was thinking just a light, shimmery taupe shadow and black eyeliner. Maybe really light blush. But nothing that would take away from the lips!
I always liked light eyes with red lips, especially soft taupes and colors you’d normally use as a highlight.
Russian Red is a great pick-me-up especially when you just can’t bother with tons of make up. On such days, I’ll just pat lightly brown shadows, any brand will do. Line my lips and fill them in with the lippie. On days when I want to look done I use knight divine on the lids up to the crease, and carbon on the outer corner and crease for definition. Use light hand, you want light smokey eyes.
Hi Pia – that sounds pretty…especially the night look. I think I’m going to try that.
With this, I keep it simple, but dramatic… No cheek color, only the lipstick, and eyeliner- black eyeliner- on the waterline and lashline… I love this color!
same here, but I would wear Armani blush to give a “barely there” cheek colour, and tons of mascara <3 <3
I wish I had a perfect canvas to wear this look well !!!!
I love Russian Red – fabulous, dramatic color! I like using it with a light neutral blush and smoky eyes.
Blush: Mocha (day) and NARS Sin (night)
Eyes:
Day – Fresh Cement as base, Ricepaper on brow, All That Glitters on the lid, Woodwinked in the crease and outer lid, upper lash lined with Blacktrack, Smoulder smudged lightly along the waterline and lower lashline. Mascara in Plushlash or Pro Lash in Brown or Black.
Night – UDPP, Ricepaper on brow, Seedy Pearl (possibly the oldest MAC e/s I own) on the inner lid, Scene all over the lid, Knight Divine in the crease, outer lid and along the lower lashline, upper lid lined with Inky, Blacktrack on the waterline, and Plushlash in Black.
Thank you, guru of all things red lipstick
Your suggestions are great! I definitely have to try out the night one.
Id pair it with Brick lipliner and russian red gloss
Frankly Scarlet blush over taupe blush in the contour of cheeks
on eyes I would use Makeup forever eyeshadow in the bright purple matte they have and then blend Parfait amour over it from MAC, Id line inner rims in a matching purple eyeliner and use black mascara…
Very YSL 70′s
Wow, Beau Nelson, that’s one bold look! It sounds very couture!
I would use Chanel Quad in Dreams with Mac Raven pencil & eithe Chanel Horizon Blush or Chanel Rose Bronze Blush for a softer look
That sounds nice, G! Thank you for sharing that look
I can tell you are a Chanel fan!
