The formula is supposed to have "maximum sparkle, supercharged color, and a long-lasting shimmer finish that lasts up to 16-hours." Per the brand, it can be "buil[t] up [to an] intense shimmer" or blended out for a "diffused glow." That being said, they also say it is "high pigment eyeshadow" when used with a brush or fingertips. It can also be used wet to create a "foiled" effect.

The pigmentation varied from shade to shade, but most were medium to opaque in a single layer applied dry and all were more pigmented applied with a dampened brush. The darker shade(s) looked better in person as they sparkled and moved with the light, but in a still photo, some of the unevenness of the base was more apparent.

The consistency was smooth, lightly emollient, and had a lot less fallout than most shades with as much sparkle, and the sparkle seemed more fleck-light, which I find is flatter and better-adhering. There was light fallout over the eight to 10 hours the formula lasted (before fading), but 16 hours would be quite the feat.

In comparison to the original Moondust formula, the relaunch seemed slightly more emollient, better-pressed, and less prone to fallout but still yielded a sparkling, wet-like finish.
