Bite Beauty Best Bite Redux ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) includes four miniatue sized Matte Creme Lip Crayons. Three of the shades are from the permanent range, while one is new and exclusive to the set (Orchid). I’m a big fan of the Matte Creme Lip Crayon formula, as they are nicely pigmented, long-wearing, comfortable to wear, and apply well. I was a bit bummed to see Truffle in the kit, because it is one of the lesser shades in the permanent range due to its more slippery texture (doesn’t bode well for deep shades usually!), but if you tend to wear lip primer or lip liner, I would expect that to apply fine over one. However, the version of Truffle included in the set seemed just a bit less emollient, so it appied better than the permanent one I have, but it wasn’t as good as the other three.

It had nearly opaque color coverage with a smooth, glide-on texture that was easy to apply and didn’t skip on the lips. The color wore well for over six hours and was lightly hydrating over time. Orchid is a bold, medium-dark purple magenta with subtle, warmer pink undertones and a cream finish. It had good color payoff, though it was not quite full coverage, that applied evenly but had more slip and felt a bit thicker compared to other shades. The color settled slightly into my lower lip lines, though I don’t think it was noticeable from a normal viewing distance as the color was so bright. Truffle is a blackened burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a lightly glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which applied fairly evenly (not as streaky as the permanent version), but some of the color pulled into lip lies, and it was difficult to get the color to adhere evenly on the center of the lips.
