Charlotte Tilbury Smokey Eyes are Forever 12-Pan Eye Palette ($75.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a new, limited edition holiday palette that has five matte eyeshadows and seven shimmery eyeshadows. The performance was fairly consistent with past 12-pan eyeshadow palettes, but the color story does feel more rehashed so those who already have indulged in past iterations may find this year’s unnecessary to consider. Those who haven’t purchased before may find it a nice time to do so. I definitely think of holiday collections as for more casual users than for us enthusiasts

I wish the brand had made the first trio, with the lightest matte shade, all intense sparkly shades–think toppers, washes, etc. When I purchased mine, it came with a short-handled, larger crease brush, but I don’t see that in the product listing any more… so just a heads up!

Smokey Eyes are Forever Love Eyes Prime is a medium beige with warmer, peachy undertones and a matte finish. It applied a little darker than it appeared in the pan. The consistency was soft, somewhat powdery, and ended up sheering out to more semi-opaque coverage on my lid, despite having more opaque coverage when swatched. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably.

It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin with light fallout when I used a dry brush, so you may find a dampened brush or fingertip better if you are looking for no fallout. The texture was soft, slightly drier to the touch, but easy to work with. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Smokey Eyes are Forever Confident Eyes Smoke is a soft black with a semi-matte finish. There was barely-there iridescent pearl running through it that I could see in the swatch, but it looked like a matte in practice. The brand referred to “magic mattes” in the palette but only this shade felt like what they described–it’s denser, thinner, and creamier but definitely a dry powder as it had sheerer, almost patchy pigmentation used dry and much more intense coverage applied with a wet brush (and the eyeshadow didn’t develop a film over where it had been used wet).

It worked decently for darkening over another eyeshadow, but on its own, dry, it wasn’t the most blendable. It wore well for eight hours before fading visibly.
