Astral Punch 02

Stellar Beauty Astral Punch 02 Infinite Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a vibrant, medium-dark pink-coral with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. The consistency felt firmer in the tube, and it dragged a bit when I applied it, but it still gave a more satiny sheen despite feeling drier in the tube (sort of magical!). It was lightweight, comfortable to wear (though not hydrating), and stayed on well for five hours on me.

The formula is supposed to be “long-lasting” (as in “all-day”) with “saturated pigments” and a “satin finish.” Most modern lipsticks are creamier and more velvety, but the formula of these was very firm, almost dry in the tube; reminiscent of old school, more matte formulas. I had two of the six shades I purchased break at the base, and it seemed due to just how stiff/dry the bullet itself was (it can actually happen when a formula is too creamy as well!). The exterior of the lipstick seemed drier, but as I applied each one to lips, they softened and gave a satin finish, as promised. They had a tendency to tug on lips, though I was able to get fairly even, smooth coverage, and most shades were fairly pigmented. The wear ranged from four to six hours (the wear of most formulas, and not “all-day”), and most shades were neither drying nor hydrating. I didn’t notice any added scent or taste, but they did smell slightly waxy.

Stellar Beauty Super Sonic 04 Infinite Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium red with cool undertones and a cremay finish. It had good pigmentation–though it was not opaque–that covered the lips with even, smooth coverage. The consistency was firm in the tube but only dragged a little initially. This shade wore well for seven hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. It was one of the longer wearing shades I tried in the formula.

Stellar Beauty Dark Matter 02 Infinite Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deep, reddish plum with copper and gold pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation, which was buildable to full coverage with two to three layers. The consistency felt stiffer in the tube, but it applied fairly evenly, though I did use more pressure. The lipstick lasted well for five and a half hours, but I don’t think it’s a formula I’d say has all-day wear, just better-than-average wear (though this type of color often wears five to six hours as it is deeper).

Stellar Beauty Disco Moon 04 Metallic Moon Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium, yellow gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had medium coverage, which did not build well as it seemed to just shift and move the initial layer around and yielded a patchier, more uneven result that didn’t offer much more coverage. This one might work better for layering than on its own. The texture was rougher compared to most shades in the line-up–it seemed to have more shimmer and have some larger, glittery particles, too. It lasted for four hours but settled into lip lines and moved around a lot.

The formula is supposed to be “velvety soft” with “full coverage” that isn’t drying. There are five shades in the range (at least, at this time), and the pigmentation varied from semi-opaque to opaque. They had a denser, firmer texture that didn’t drag uncomfortably across the lips, but it took greater pressure than the average lipstick to apply across the lips. The result on the lips was thinner but still had coverage. There was no discernible scent or taste to me, except some of the waxiness of the base formula came through.

Stellar Beauty Beam Cosmic Blush ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium pink with warm undertones and a satin sheen. The consistency was very soft but incredibly powdery, so there was a lot of excess powder that came away from the surface, even with a light touch, which made it messier to work with. (I’d also be slightly concerned for anyone who has much drier skin than I, in case it exacerbates flakiness.) It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage (up to semi-opaque) that applied evenly and blended out easily. It wore well for six and a half hours on me before fading.

The formula is supposed to have a “translucent wash of pigment” that has a “subtle glow” and “long-wear” that “builds easily to a strong, lustrous finish.” There are only three shades in the range presently, and the pigmentation was more semi-sheer to medium in coverage, buildable with a very soft texture–but so soft that there was a ton of excess powder kicked up in the pan even with a light touch and a soft brush. They have a luminous finish on the skin, but they only last six to seven hours on me, which is shorter than average.

Stellar Beauty Flare Cosmic Blush ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium pink-coral with warm undertones and a fair amount of gold shimmer. It had medium coverage, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage, if desired. The powder felt silky to the touch–very finely-milled–but was much looser in the pan and ended up somewhat powdery. When I applied to my cheeks, it blended out nicely and ended up looking luminous but not dry or dusty. This shade wore well for seven hours before fading on me.

Stellar Eclipse Beauty Cosmic Blush ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, coppery brown with warm undertones and fine shimmer. The shimmer translated into a more luminous sheen rather than obvious shimmer particles once blended on the skin. It seemed as if the powder “melted” on the skin as it did not appear as dusty on my cheeks as it did swatched initially.

The formula is supposed to have a “translucent wash of pigment” that has a “subtle glow” and “long-wear” that “builds easily to a strong, lustrous finish.” There are only three shades in the range presently, and the pigmentation was more medium in coverage, buildable with a very soft texture–but so soft that there was a ton of excess powder kicked up in the pan even with a light touch and a soft brush. They have a luminous finish on the skin, but they only last six to seven hours on me, which is shorter than average. Eclipse was consistent with the other two–medium coverage, buildable, and dusty and drier in the pan, but it applied and blended out nicely. It wore well for seven hours on me before fading.

Stellar Beauty Infinite Lipstick

Stellar Beauty just debuted at Sephora (and it’s also a new brand in general!) this month. I picked up six of the Infinite Lipsticks, all five shades of the Metallic Moon Lipsticks, and three of the blushes (one arrived shattered, so I only have two in this post with the replacement still on its way). The brand also has a liquid foundation, liquid concealer, loose powder, and mascara, but I figured I’d see how they managed with lipstick first.
