Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette

Anastasia Modern Renaissance Palette ($42.00 for 0.35 oz.) includes 14 eyeshadows that come in a mix of warmer neutrals and pops of pink/red. For a mostly matte palette, it actually applied quite well to bare skin, and I didn’t have issues blending out the majority of the shades. The eyeshadows adhered exceptionally well to bare skin without sheering out or becoming patchy. The majority of the shades were pigmented and wore for seven to eight hours.

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette

BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes Palette ($19.00 for 1.58 oz.) contains 28, metallic eyeshadows. I picked this up a couple of months ago, because it was getting a lot of buzz, and I’ve been really impressed by the quality overall. Only a few shades had issues, and they were fairly minor (slightly less pigmented, could apply better with primer or with a dampened brush). The majority of the eyeshadows were very pigmented, applied beautifully on bare skin, blended out easily, and lasted for seven to nine hours on me (without primer). As they are all shimmery, it may not work as well as an all-in-one-look palette, though. If you like your high-shimmer, metallic eyeshadows, it’s well worth checking out!

Viseart Cashmere Theory Palette

Viseart Cashmere Theory Palette ($45.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a subdued set of neutral tones with three matte and three metallic eyeshadows. The Theory palettes are more cohesive as all-in-one palettes as the finishes and tone vary more than the larger palettes (which were designed to be used with other palettes). I quite enjoyed this palette, as it had good color payoff, long-wear, and was easy to apply and blend on bare skin.

Chanel Tisse Rivoli (226) Eyeshadow Quad

Chanel Tisse Rivoli (226) Eyeshadow Quad ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a set of warm-toned neutrals. All four shades wore well for just over nine hours and after, there was very, very slight creasing (no primer). The texture is soft, smooth, and they eyeshadows are incredibly blendable.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Palette ($46.00 for 0.60 oz.) includes twelve eyeshadows that are categorized into three “quads,” divided between neutral, cool, and warm (supposedly, at least). For the majority of the palette, the eyeshadow formula is consistent: very soft, finely-milled to the point where the shades feel smooth and silky, but they can be powdery at times, so this is a palette best for someone who typically uses a primer!

LORAC Unzipped Palette

LORAC Unzipped Palette ($40.00 for 0.58 oz.) is a good palette with ten shades and no major issues. Most of the eyeshadows had good color payoff, soft, blendable textures, and the formula wears quite consistency–almost every shade lasted for eight hours on me (no primer). With LORAC’s primer, results are closer to ten to eleven hours.

MAC Warm/Neutral 15 x Palette

MAC Warm/Neutral 15 x Palette ($65.00 for 0.68 oz.) contains fifteen, warm-toned eyeshadows. It has four permanent shades and four repromoted shades (ones that have been released previously as limited edition shades). This is actually one of MAC’s better pre-made palettes, which is even more impressive give there are 15 shades in the palette. Vanilla Extract and Honey Lust were the worst performers, but there were a lot of nicely pigmented shades that were, easy to use and blend overall.

Make Up For Ever #1 Nudes You Need Palette

Make Up For Ever #1 Nudes You Need Palette ($44.00 for 0.54 oz.) is an excellent palette if you enjoy neutrals, love (or want to buy more) Artist Shadows, and don’t mind that there aren’t any mattes in it. If you only like palettes with a variety of finishes, including mattes, you might find this one a miss. I think the quality is extremely high, and it would easily pair with your favorite neutral mattes that you might already have

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette

Sleek Vintage Romance Palette ($9.99 for 0.36 oz.) is one of the few cooler-toned palettes (though it has warm shades in it) that has good pigmentation and blends well. I find Sleek’s shimmery shades to be extremely rich, dense, and pigmented, and their satins and mattes tend to be a bit weaker (some are good, some aren’t). Sunset is fantastic for brighter warm-tones.

Tom Ford Nude Dip Eyeshadow Quad

Tom Ford Nude Dip Eyeshadow Quad ($82.00 for 0.21 oz.) contains four shades of warm-leaning neutrals that go from golden champagne to dark brown. The eyeshadows go on so easily and nearly blend themselves; they work and transition into each other in a way that’s effortless. This one is ideal for someone who likes a fair amount of shimmer, though!

Viseart Paris Nudes Palette

Viseart Paris Nudes Palette ($80.00 for 0.84 oz.) is a set of twelve shades, and if you’ve ever longed for a palette of shimmery, mid-tones, this might be the one for you. The palette leans warm overall with a few shades more neutral-to-warm. The texture is soft and blendable with some shades feeling a little dry, dusty, and/or powdery, but these things didn’t translate into application, as they still adhered well to bare skin (no primer) and wore for eight hours or longer.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Urban Decay Naked Palette ($54.00 for 0.60 oz.) is a classic palette for me; it’s one I can return to and use with ease. The eyeshadows are all warm in tone with a mix of mattes and shimmers (though it is more shimmery overall) and complement each other.

Viseart Bridal Satin Palette

Viseart Bridal Satin Palette ($80.00 for 0.84 oz.) contains twelve shimmery shades ranging from buttery yellow to violet to satiny black. The formula on these is incredibly buttery, dense, and richly pigmented, which made them easy to apply to bare lids and get long, extended wear (nine to ten hours). I like how this is a bolder palette but still wearable as there are several neutrals in it, too.

Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette ($14.99 for 0.32 oz.) consists of four highlighters–three powder, one cream. They’re designed as “highly pigmented metallic finishes” that give a “luminous sheen” on the “face and body.” It’s a fun palette for highlighting that doesn’t break the bank, and I think that the biggest issue is that not all shades were “highly pigmented” but imagine for many, that’s not a deal-breaker when it comes to highlighters.

Ecliptic is a subdued, light-medium rose pink with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer-sheen finish. It had semi-sheer coverage, which was somewhat buildable but never to more than medium coverage. The creamier consistency made it prone to sheering out as it was blended onto the skin, though I think that works well for the type of product it is as it is hard to overdo. Hemisphere is a cooler, pinky lavender with a luminous sheen. The consistency was soft and blendable, but it was a touch drier and looser in the pan, so it didn’t have the same finely-milled feel as some highlighters/powders can. I don’t think this is something really seen on the skin (at least not for me), as it imparted a nice, glowy finish that didn’t emphasize pores or look dry on. Subsolar is a very light yellow with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It doesn’t seem warm enough to be your traditional take on a gold highlighter–it almost has a green cast to it at some angles. The texture was smooth but had a firmer press to it compared to the right two highlighters, which resulted in more semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage. It gave my skin a subtle glow without adding warmth to it (I am warm-toned, though) and did not emphasize pores or my skin’s natural texture. The highlighter wore nicely for seven and a half hours. Equinox is a bright, light-medium coppery peach with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. This shade was richly pigmented with a very soft, blendable consistency that was a smidgen dry in the pan but didn’t look that way on the skin. On the skin, it had more of a metallic finish, which made it the most reflective of the four shades in the palette, and it was just shy of emphasizing pores on my skin if wore at medium coverage (or sheerer). Plum is one of my favorite cheek colors to wear (right after coral!), because they can run cool or warm in tone, so they work with a lot of looks. It’s also a great shade to pair with the deeper lip colors that we often see in fall and winter. What are your favorites?

Sleek Makeup Pixie Pink Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a brightened, light-medium cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft and silky with some excess powder kicking up in the pan, but on the skin, the blush didn’t look powdery, which is where it counts the most. It was richly pigmented, and the silky quality of the powder made it easier to blend on the skin. I noticed it darkened on my skin, though if you are naturally drier, you may find it stays truer to the color in the pan. It wore for eight and a half hours before breaking down. Sleek Makeup Pomegranate Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a brightened, reddish-plum with cool, pink sheen and warmer, coppery undertones. It was very, very pigmented, so a little went a long way, and I’d recommend using a feathery brush with this and building up color to your desired intensity. Thankfully, the powder is soft, smooth, and blendable, which will make it easier to diffuse or sheer down the color if you’ve applied to much. It wore for nine hours before fading on me. Sleek Makeup Antique Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a subdued, plummy brown with soft, warm undertones and silver micro-glitter over a more satiny finish. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, smooth, and blendable consistency that sat well on the skin without emphasizing pores. The micro-glitter isn’t too detectable unless you’re looking up-close in a mirror, and a lot of it seems to disappear between the pan, brush, and face. Sleek Makeup Rose Gold Blush ($6.99 for 0.27 oz.) is a warm, medium pink base color with a mega-ton of frosted, gold shimmer. The pigmentation was rich with a very soft, buttery texture that was so soft that it was almost crumbly if you weren’t careful. I had better luck applying in sheerer layers. The higher shimmer content in the finish did emphasize pores to a moderate degree when applied. It wore well for eight hours before fading. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Sand (LE, $65.00) is less shimmery. Sleek Makeup Arabian Nights i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette ($11.99 for 0.36 oz.) is a limited edition set of twelve eyeshadows in shades of “deep tones of green, blue and gold.” The i-Divine Eyeshadow formula is supposed to be “super-pigmented [and] long-lasting.” I think this is a worthwhile palette at this price point; there are a few misses, but there are enough hits to make it compelling. If you typically use primer, I think some of the misses will be more manageable. When Sleek nails it, they REALLY nail it, but when they miss, it’s usually by a fair amount, and I usually find their satin/matte shades to be a bit drier, which results in sheerer color payoff compared to their more shimmery shades that are usually amazing.

FYI, Sleek lists this as unavailable to ship to USA due to shipping regulations on their site, but it is also available for $9.99 (plus $2.50 shipping) via Amazon (I’ve only ordered Sleek via Amazon, and I’ve never had any issues–pretty quick to arrive, too!).

Scheherazade’s Tale is a light-medium, beige-brown with a metallic finish. It had excellent color payoff with a texture that felt almost creamy, so it applied very smoothly. It wore well for nine and a half hours before starting to crease. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gold Souk is a light-medium, sparkling yellow gold with warm undertones and a glittery, metallic finish. It had fairly good pigmentation, and the texture seemed to stick together, despite it being a more glittery shade. On me, the color wore well for nine and a half hours and had a smidgen of fall out (surprisingly little, though!). See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Aladdin’s Lamp is a medium-dark brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had really good color payoff with a soft, smooth texture that was easy to apply and blend out. I was able to get nine hours of wear before it showed signs of fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Sultan’s Garden is a dark, smoky green with soft green and gold sparkle/shimmer. It was semi-sheer with a sheerer, drier texture that just didn’t yield good color payoff. On me, the color lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Hocus Pocus is a rich, medium-dark green-leaning teal with a frosted, metallic sheen. The pigmentation was incredibly intense, while the texture was buttery and smooth. This shade wore well for ten hours on me before it was showing slight creasing. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Simbad’s Seas is a bold, rich bluish-purple with cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had amazing color payoff that applied smoothly and evenly due to the soft, buttery texture. It was still going strong after ten hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Genie is a rich, medium-dark bronzy brown with a high-shine, metallic finish. This shade was very soft and intensely pigmented, so it was easy to over-apply, which made the metallic finish appear almost chunky. It was easier to apply on the lid knowing that, compared to when I initially swatched it. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Black Magic is a blackened navy blue with a satin finish and subtle cool undertones. It had so-so color payoff, as the texture was slightly dry and stiff to work with. On me, the color lasted for seven and a half hours before there was fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Stallion is a medium-dark burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, and the texture was dry and stiffer in the pan, so it wasn’t as easy to apply as other shades in the palette. On me, the shade stayed on well for eight hours before fading, though. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Sorcerer is a blackened navy blue–just a darker version than Black Magic–that has a faint bit of purple-ish micro-shimmer and a satin finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage that was still blendable, but the powder was a little drier and thinner. The color wore well for seven and a half hours before fading. Valley of Diamonds is a rich, medium-dark wine with gold sparkle over a satiny finish. It had really good color payoff, and it applied smoothly and evenly. The color didn’t show signs of creasing until after nine hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

1001 Nights is a rich, deep black with a pearly sheen. It had the creamiest texture of a powder I’ve ever experienced–it really felt like a cream eyeshadow. It was smooth and richly pigmented, and it lasted for ten hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I love colorful eyeshadows, and there have been some interesting palettes that have released over the years! If you’re in the market for something that’s not just neutrals, you may want to check out some of these. Too Faced Pretty Rebel and Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren both deserve honorable mentions; two of my favorites, but they are limited edition.
