NARS Hammered Powerchrome Loose Eye Pigment ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep, coppery red with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of sparkle over a pearly base. It had opaque pigmentation applied with fingertips as well as with a dry or dampened brush, though dampened application gave it a smoother finish overall.

The texture was loosely-pressed into the pot, though it was more pressed than it was loose both initially and after subsequent uses. It felt lightly creamy to the touch, dense and rich but not too thick on my lid, but it seemed a little too emollient as the base became a bit patchy when blended out. You’d definitely need to use another product (like a matte eyeshadow) to blur the edge to one’s satisfaction.

It applied fairly evenly overall, though, and had light fallout during application regardless of whether I used fingertips or brushes (dry or wet). It stayed on well for eight hours before creasing faintly on me.

The formula is supposed to be "intense payoff" in "one swipe" with "all shine." The brand recommends applying with fingertips (actually "fingerprint application") to get "intense payoff with as minimal fallout as possible." It's a loosely-pressed eyeshadow formula that's more of a pressed eyeshadow than a true, loose pigment, but if it gets knocked around, it could appear looser. They're easiest to work with when pressed and packed into the jar, though, as it enabled better control over coverage and minimized fallout opportunity.

Most shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applied with light fallout during application (whether with fingertips or brushes), but fingertips definitely were easier to sue when deeper shades when I wanted more seamless edges. Brushes tended to move the shimmer/sparkle around and leave behind a patchier base pigment for deeper shades. I tried using the products with a dampened brush, which was a successful alternative to fingertip application with all but the chunkiest of shades.

NARS Naked City Powerchrome Loose Eye Pigment ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium blue with cool undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. Applied with a fingertip, it had more semi-opaque, buildable coverage. It had medium, buildable coverage applied with a dry brush or nearly opaque coverage applied with a dampened brush.

The texture was more loosely-pressed into the pot, but there was binder there that kept it more in a clump than in loose powder form, as evidence by it shifting around upon opening and leaving sad, sparkling tears all over my tabletop. There was light to moderate fallout depending on application method with the recommended fingertip application have lighter fallout than compared to a dry brush. I found using it with a dampened brush to be best for application, blendability, and longevity as I had less fallout over time as well. This shade lasted well for eight and a half with light fallout.

NARS Riding High Powerchrome Loose Eye Pigment ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a light-medium sage green with warmer, more golden shimmer and a more muted, olive-toned base. It had good color coverage in a single layer applied with fingertip, dry brush, and a dampened brush with the latter giving a slightly smoother finish.

The consistency was smooth, lightly creamy, and felt more pressed into the pot compared to other shades in the range, so it wasn’t prone to fallout and seemed to blend more readily–it seemed like a slightly richer, denser take on your average pressed eyeshadow. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before creasing noticeably.
