NARS Hot Tin Roof Liquid Blush ($30.00 for 0.50 oz.) is a deep, coral-red with warm undertones and a natural, matte finish. It was richly pigmented and a little went a long way–that’s the big “downside” as it was not what I would consider “buildable” as the formula was described. One pump of product might be enough to blush the entire face! I used the merest press of the pump on the back of my hand and then used even less than that to get semi-sheer coverage.

The formula itself was lovely–thin, spreadable, and quick to dry down and set but with enough play time to blend and diffuse the edges without lifting up one’s base (and it worked well on bare skin, too). It stayed on well for nine hours on me before fading slightly. I think as long as you don’t mind working with a very pigmented liquid blush (or you prefer high pigmentation in your blush!), it’s well-worth checking out.

The new formula is supposed to “effortlessly glide on[to] skin for a lasting glow” where “one pump delivers the perfect amount of natural-looking color.” It’s supposed to have “buildable” coverage that’s “blendable” and “lasting.” It has a thin, almost watery consistency that spread easily, blended out well, and looked natural in finish on the skin with semi-sheer to medium, buildable coverage. One pump seemed like twice as much product as necessary in my experience, though.

I liked using fingertips or a stippling brush for applying the product to cheeks but would dispense on the back of my hand or a metal palette first. It dried down quickly but did not feel immovable, so a little buffing along the edges was still doable. The formula wore between eight to nine hours on me, depending on the shade.
