Cle de Peau Pewter Veil (311) Eyeshadow Quad ($55.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a set of cooler-toned shades in hues of blue-teal, dark gray, pewter, and bright silver. Not particularly enamored with this quad, as each shade has some sort of issue, and at this price point, it becomes hard to justify or excuse the downsides.

Note: I purchased the refill pan only without the compact, and should you want the compact, it will run you $25 on top of the $55 price. I’m not really into packaging these days, so I prefer to pop a magnet on the back and store in freestyle palettes (like Z Palettes).

Pewter Veil #1 is a muted, medium-dark blue-teal with cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation but a slightly dusty consistency that felt a smidgen drier and was more troublesome to work with. The color didn’t go on as evenly nor did it blend out as easily as most Cle de Peau shades to. This shade started to fade noticeably after seven hours of wear. Pewter Veil #2 is a medium-dark charcoal gray with cool undertones and a sparkling, frosted sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff, but the texture was dry and a little dusty to work with. Pewter Veil #3 is a light pewter with subtle, cooler undertones paired with warmer shimmer. The color coverage was mostly opaque, while the texture was soft, smooth, and blendable. Pewter Veil #4 is a bright, sparkling silvery-white with a frosted sheen. The texture was a little looser, so the color separated more when applied to the skin, which sheered out the coverage and had fall out as the sparkles didn’t bind with the powder as well.
