Formula Overview

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable. All 34 shades are shimmer-free and vary being a soft satin finish to a natural finish (light shine but not glossy). The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamyu with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

In comparison to the Luminous Creme formula: The level of color payoff and lemony scent are the two things that are similar, but they feel quite different on. If you have drier lips and need the intense hydration that the Luminous Creme formula offered, I don’t know if you’re going to like these. The Luminous Creme formula had a thicker consistency with a very creamy texture that glided on and never tugged at all, and the thicker consistency paired with the glossier finish was more forgiving on lips as it didn’t emphasize lines, natural texture, dryness, or flaking. Some had issues with the Luminous Creme formula bleeding/feathering and shorter-wear due to the amount of slip (high), and the Amuse Bouche formula has much, much less slip, so the wear is longer. I didn’t typically experience bleeding/feathering with the Luminous Creme formula, and that is also true with Amuse Bouche, but I would expect less with this more satin-finish formula for most (but not all). The scent seemed slightly stronger in the Amuse Bouche range, but it wasn’t noticeable after I was done applying the color.

Bite Beauty Liquorice Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as an “oxblood.” It’s a rich, medium-dark burgundy red with subtle, warm undertones and a natural finish. The consistency was lightweight, lightly creamy without being too slippery or too firm, and applied with even, smooth color. It was mostly opaque, but there was slight translucency that let the natural lip color come through still. A little color gathered into my bottom lip lines, but the color seemed to be so rich and hugged just enough that I didn’t have issues with the color really gathering further while worn. This shade lasted for over six hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. I didn’t have feathering with this shade, but it was hard to get a crisp line with this straight from the tube so I would recommend a lip brush for cleaner edges. Bite Beauty Black Truffle Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “black violet.” It’s an intense, deep purple with subtle, warmer reddish undertones and a natural sheen. This is one of the glossier shades in the range, but it is quite a bit less glossy compared to most of the Luminous Creme range. It had nearly opaque color payoff with a lightly creamy consistency that didn’t tug when applying but still had streak-free color. I had very slight feathering on this shade, which isn’t something I normally experience, but there are a few very deep shades I’ve had issues with. The color wore for over six hours with minimal fading, and while I worried the color might settle into lip lines, I didn’t notice it doing so over that time period. It was lightly hydrating.
