bareMinerals The Color Compatibles Palette ($39.00 for 0.51 oz.) includes six eyeshadows and three cheek products. If you’re a long-time bareMinerals Ready palette collector, you’ll probably find this has too many repeats in it to justify, but if you haven’t tried the Ready line and like warmer neutrals, it’s well worth some consideration. Ready eyeshadow is one of my favorite eyeshadow formulas, and it shines in this palette. The formula is supposed to have twelve-hour wear, be pigmented, and have “seamless blendability.” The Ready blush and bronzer formula is supposed to have an eight-hour wear time with “stay-true, buildable color.”

Empress is described as a “creamy peach.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed peach with a satin finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, blendable consistency that was easy to work with. It wore well for ten and a half hours before fading. bareMinerals Enjoy (LE, ) is darker. Too Faced Bubbly (LE, $16.00) is lighter. bareMinerals Magnate (LE, ) is less shimmery. Bragging Rights is described as a “shimmering rose gold.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark copper with warm, orange-red undertones and a metallic finish. It was intensely pigmented with a very soft texture that was so soft that it tended to dislodge more product than desired, but it is a denser powder, so it doesn’t turn powdery. I recommend barely tapping the brush against the surface to avoid over-applying! It wore well for twelve hours. Milani Bella Copper (23) (P, $4.49) is less shimmery. Shiver is described as an “iced lilac.” It’s a muted, dirty lavender with hints of gray and a metallic sheen. It had fairly good color payoff with a buttery, blendable texture that applied evenly. Priceless is described as a “heathered smoke.” It’s a gray-leaning taupe with a satin finish that appears more matte applied. It had semi-opaque color coverage, but it was the weakest product in the palette, as it was a little dry and thin. Hoopla is described as a “glowing copper.” It’s a brightened, subtly muted medium gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had excellent pigmentation with a very blendable, long-wearing (eleven hours) formula, though the texture was a hair dry. It was more pigmented and smoother, but it was also more metallic (and therefore, lighter) than the one I have from before. L’Oreal Eternal Sunshine (P, $7.99) is lighter. Ritzy is described as a “shimmering cocoa.” It’s a rich, medium-dark bronzy brown with warm, yellow undertones and a golden bronze frosted shimmer-sheen finish. It was intensely pigmented with such a soft, smooth, buttery texture that was heavenly to work with. No complaints; if every eyeshadow was this good, we would all be broke. The Spring Fling is described as a “creamy peach.” It’s a light-medium, pink-peach with warm undertones and a natural matte finish–enough of a “sheen” to keep it from looking flat or dry on the skin, but it is mostly matte. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that lasted for eight hours. The texture was a smidgen powdery. The Five Star Treatment is described as a “pink champagne.” It’s a light, pink-peach with a frosted sheen that translates to a luminous, glowing finish on the skin. It had good, buildable color payoff that had a soft, blendable texture that sat well on the skin without emphasizing pores. It wore well for nine hours before fading slightly. The High Dive is described as a “tan.” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, yellow-orange tones and a soft sheen. It had semi-opaque coverage that was buildable, but the texture was firmer and drier in the pan than most Ready powders, which was a surprise. It did last for the eight hours as promised.
