Anastasia Plum Smoke Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark rosy taupe with mauve tones and a subtle, bronze sheen. It’s a rather complicated color, because I can see the “plum” in a sense yet wouldn’t think to describe it in the plum family. It had good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that ran a little powdery. The color started to fade after seven and a half hours. It was intensely pigmented with a dense, buttery texture that went on smoothly and blended out nicely. This shade wore well for eight hours on me. Anastasia Not Today Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is medium-dark plum with warm, brown undertones and silver sparkle over a pearly sheen. The consistency is denser and more cream-like, which helps a lot of the sparkles to bind with the color and not just rest on the surface. This resulted in a lot less fall out during application and wear, though there were a few stray sparkles by the end of the day that had fallen underneath the eye. FORMULA OVERVIEW | Anastasia Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.06 oz.) is supposed to be a “finely-milled, highly-pigmented” powder eyeshadow. The brand has a large range of individual eyeshadows that are available as pan-only (no compact to hold them); if you purchase four, you’ll get a 4-well palette for $40 ($10 per eyeshadow), or purchase eight and get an 8-well palette for $70 ($8.75 per eyeshadow). The palettes are thick cardboard palettes with tabs on the side for easy removal/rearranging. There are several different finishes, and the performance can be better or worse depending on the finish, though it also ranges from shade to shade. On average, the formula is semi-opaque to opaque, lightly dusty to buttery, wears seven to nine hours, and is fairly blendable. The Metallic and Titanium finishes seem to be the best-performing to me, but there are some really standout mattes and shimmers as well. I have not tried the sparkle, satin, or velvet finishes as extensively as the other finishes, personally.
