Urban Decay Highway Queen On the Run Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a new, limited edition orange-toned palette that features four more matte shades and four more shimmery shades.

The formula was drier and thinner for most shades, which resulted in so-so application and wear; it’s just not the type of formula that does well on its own–it needed a primer underneath to ensure even adhesion and longer wear. I find this formula to be drier and inferior to the one in the larger Born to Run palette in application and wear.

Coast is a pale yellow with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage with a soft, silky texture that felt a little dusty in the pan but didn’t give me trouble with fallout. This shade stayed on well for seven hours before fading visibly.

The formula is typically described as "high-pigment" that "stays on your lids" and goes on "seamlessly." Their permanent range has a lot of fantastic shades in it, and many of them are pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. Some of their matte are real workhorse kind of shades with soft, smooth, silky, and blendable textures, while their shimmers and pearly shades are very rich in payoff and apply beautifully to the lid. They wear between seven and nine hours on me, depending on the shade and finish.

Highway Queen is a light-medium peach with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation paired with a moderately powdery texture that had some fallout and sheered out a bit. I’d recommend wearing this with a primer underneath to improve adhesion, evenness of application, and wear as it only lasted decently for seven hours on me.

Shag Van is a medium-dark orange with strong, warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. There were barely-there flecks of micro-sparkle throughout but they did not translate to the lid at all. The texture felt smooth, substantial but not too powdery, so it applied well to bare skin and blended out nicely without losing its full color coverage (where I wanted it). It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed slight fading.
