Tom Ford Beauty Lavender Lure Sheer Cheek Duo ($80.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a new, limited edition highlighting and blush duo that includes a light, warm pink and a medium, warm pink. According to the brand, the blush “can be applied wet for a soft veil of color” or “dry for a sweeping pop of vibrancy.” I don’t find that to be a useful or accurate description–the product is quite pigmented dry and only more pigmented when used with a dampened brush, and the more shimmery shade becomes more metallic if used wet. As long as you don’t mind more pigmentation out of the duo, you’ll be in a good shape, but if you were looking for sheerer coverage (as the formula name itself might suggest!), you’ll be out of luck.

Lavender Lure (Top) is a soft, light pink with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic sheen. It had rich pigmentation regardless of whether I applied it with a dry or wet brush–the bigger difference was that a dampened brush yielded a much stronger, more metallic finish. I did not feel like my skin’s natural texture was amplified with either application, but the metallic application might do so for someone who feels they have more noticeable texture. The powder was smooth to the touch with a denser, firmer consistency, so a denser brush was key to picking up product. It lasted for eight and a half hours on me.

Lavender Lure (Bottom)

Lavender Lure (Bottom) is a brighter, medium pink with soft, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque pigmentation applied both wet and dry, but it was more blendable and easier to sheer out (or build up, if used with a lighter hand) when used dry. The texture was smooth but dense, so while there was no powderiness in the pan, it applied best with a moderately dense blush brush. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading.
