Almondine

MAC Almondine Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a soft, medium pink with warm undertones and a fine, golden sheen. It has a Lustre finish, which is a sheerer coverage formula with a stronger sheen. It had a soft, lightly emollient consistency that glided across the lips easily, and it only had minimal settling in my lip lines. The lipstick had semi-sheer coverage that went on evenly–the resulting effect was warmer, pinker natural lip color with shimmer and shine–that lasted for two and a half hours.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

MAC Bloodstone Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a deep, pinky-red with cool undertones and a natural sheen with fine pink and red pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly directly from the tube. The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too slippery, and easy to work with. This shade lasted for six hours and left behind a stain, while the formula was slightly hydrating.

MAC Coral Bliss Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a soft, muted peachy-coral with warm undertones and a soft sheen. It had medium coverage that went on fairly evenly, but it seemed to emphasize the texture of my lips and had some noticeable color that pooled into my deeper lip lines. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and lightly emollient but slid around enough that the wear was only three hours on me. This shade is part of the permanent line as well.

It had nearly opaque pigmentation with a lightly creamy consistency that didn’t feel too slippery or too firm, so it was comfortable to apply and to wear. The color went on evenly and smoothly, and it lasted for over six hours. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating and left a slight stain behind.
