Christian Louboutin Deep Teal Velvet Eye Definer ($40.00 for 0.056 oz.) is a muted, deep bluish teal with a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single stroke, though it was certainly buildable to full coverage with just a touch more (not even a full second layer). The consistency was smooth, creamy enough not to tug on the skin but didn’t slide around as it was drying down. It was smudgeable for the first 15-25 seconds but then set and stayed in place for the next eight and a half hours.

The formula is supposed to be “pigment-rich” with “all day” wear. Each pencil comes with a sharpener (which worked well), and the pencil contained a little more than average (for eye pencils that sharpen). I only tried two of the five shades available, but both performed well: they were pigmented, long-wearing, and creamy enough to glide on without tugging on my lower lash line or water line.

Christian Louboutin Zoulou Velvet Eye Definer ($40.00 for 0.056 oz.) is a deep, chocolaty brown with subtle, warm reddish undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single stroke, and the creamier texture made it easy to apply to the lash line and run the liner back and forth for completely full coverage. The pencil was comfortable to use on the water line, as it wasn’t too firm, while I didn’t have any issues sharpening it so it wasn’t too soft either. This eyeliner lasted for eight and a half hours on my lower lash line and seven hours on my waterline.
