On a Manhunt for Bold Blue

China Glaze Manhunt Nail Lacquer ($7.00 MSRP for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “bold cobalt blue.” It’s a rich, bold cobalt blue. It has more of a jelly finish from what I can tell, as it’s not quite a cream, but perhaps not a full-on jelly finish either. Though very shimmery in finish, Zoya Song is similar in boldness and overall blue hue. China Glaze Ride the Waves is much lighter (and sheerer). Illamasqua Force is similar but a little more muted. Butter London Blagger is more true blue than cobalt.

It was very nearly opaque after two coats, but there is a faint shadow of my nail line coming through both in natural (studio) light as well as under flash (more apparent there).  The squishy look of the polish makes me think it’s a jelly finish, while the slight sheerness supports that, too.  The consistency was a good balance between thick and thin, so it flowed evenly across the nail and wasn’t streaky or prone to bubbling.  I typically get a week of wear out of China Glaze’s formula with no chipping and only minor tip wear.
