Chanel Signe Particulier Eyeshadow Quad ($65.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a limited edition palette for the holidays. I normally enjoy the formula Chanel uses with this type of imprint, but this year’s wasn’t as impressive–two shades were silky but powdery and two were drier on the skin. I would have loved to see the gold shade replaced with something distinctively cool-toned, which I think would make it more unique.

Signe Particulier #1 is a pale, very light pink with cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a lightly dusty consistency that applied fairly well and blended out easily. It had so-so color coverage with a slightly dry, powdery texture that diffused well on the skin, but it also tended to sheer out and was harder to keep even as a result. Signe Particulier #3 is a deep, plummy burgundy with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. The texture was noticeably dry, and the eyeshadow applied unevenly as it applied in patches. I had a challenging time getting the color to stick to the eyelid, so I think a slightly tacky primer would be best for this shade. Signe Particulier #4 is a bright, yellow gold with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation, but the sparkle came loose from the base, so it was messy to use and tended to apply unevenly on the skin as some produc twould stick and the sparkles would sheer out the base.
