Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a new formula for summer that will be available in fourteen shades. The gloss is supposed to have “high coverage” with “all the color you crave in one coat” with a “creamy” texture and is hydrating. I’m about halfway through testing the shades, and this grouping represented a good mix of my results.

The majority are fairly pigmented, though I don’t think they’re “one coat” color as most shades have some visible translucency so the natural lip color will still come through. All of the shades have a really smooth, almost gel-like consistency that feels creamy but light-medium in thickness. For the most part, they don’t slide around, and initially, they feel smooth and non-sticky, but the formula gradually gets stickier as it wears. If you do nothing, it takes about two hours for some of that tackiness to develop, but if you blot or take a sip from a cup, it starts to get tacky right after. I consider most of the wear to have moderate tackiness but the texture isn’t thick or goopy, so it doesn’t catch stray hairs as much as a thicker gloss.

However, as they are tacky, they wear longer than the average gloss; I’ve routinely been getting four to six hours of wear. It’s also hydrating over time and comfortable to wear overall (so long as tackiness doesn’t bother you!). Some shades do not apply evenly and look streaky or blotch on, while others go on really nicely and look fantastic. I was surprised to see that some of the more problematic shades are ones like Savage and Bittersweet (to-be-reviewed), while lighter shades like Liar (to-be-reviewed) go on quite well. There seems to be a very faint scent of buttery vanilla, but I can barely detect it even with my nose right at the tube as I twist it open, so it’s not a strong scent and not one I notice when I’m applying or wearing the gloss, and there is no discernible taste.

Urban Decay Big Bang Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright pink with glitter.” It’s a medium-dark pink-red with fuchsia shimmer. It appears redder on the lips and loses some of that bright fuchsia applied. The shimmer is fine enough that it doesn’t add a noticeable texture to the gloss, even as it wears away. The consistency seems slightly thinner compared to the cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly well, while the color stayed on for six hours and was hydrating over time. I noticed a smidgen of color that settled into lip lines, but with the gloss formula, it was easy to press lips together and even it back out. Urban Decay Vice (P, $22.00) is slightly darker and less bright but surprisingly similar. Chanel Crazy Fuchsia (194) (LE, $29.50) is more shimmery, warmer. Revlon HD Pink Ruby (515) (P, $8.99) is brighter, more shimmery. NARS Sixties Fan (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Glam (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, brighter. Chanel Tocade (182) (P, $29.50)is lighter. Maybelline Caviar Couture (050) (P, $8.99) is darker, less shimmery. MAC Lust for Life (LE, $15.00) is darker, warmer. Urban Decay Savage Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as an “electric pink.” It’s a brightened, cotton candy pink with strong, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff that didn’t apply evenly. The gloss tended to look streaky and uneven. It wore well for five hours and was moderately hydrating while worn. Urban Decay Scandal (P, $22.00) is much darker. Estee Lauder Rosy Future (LE, $26.00) is darker. Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) (P, $8.99) is brighter, cooler-toned. MAC Unlimited Style (LE, $15.00) is more shimmery. NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is slightly cooler-toned. NARS Priscilla (P, $26.00) is brighter, darker. MAC Fearless (LE, $20.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Scandal Revolution High-Color Lipgloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright pink.” It’s a bold, brightened medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered fairly evenly, but there was very subtle streaking that you can see in the close-up that wasn’t noticeable in person. It lasted for six hours on me and hydrating while worn. Estee Lauder Rosy Future (LE, $26.00) is warmer. Revlon HD Tourmaline (510) (P, $8.99) is cooler-toned. MAC Ultramarine Pink (LE, $30.00) is slightly darker. NYX Sugar Cookie (P, $5.00) is lighter. NARS Priscilla (P, $26.00) is slightlyw armer.
