NARS Cote Basque Sheer Pop Multiple ($39.00 for 0.50 oz.) is a medium, pink-coral with fine, golden pearl. The consistency was smooth, more emollient than the traditional Multiple formula (which has a more velvety, silicone-like feel to me), so I felt like it yielded a more stained-like look applied to the cheeks.

The new, limited edition formula is supposed to be a “buildable formula that delivers sheer, high-impact color on lips and cheeks,” and it’s also said another way: “pairs vivid color with a weightless touch,” which seems to suggest that the “sheer” quality is more with respect to the feel of the product than the coverage. That being said, the coverage seems designed to be “buildable” but still “vivid.” It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that was also blendable enough that I could sheer out the coverage to semi-sheer, if desired. It applied better over bare skin, but it was workable over liquid/creams, though it looked patchy over powders. It lasted for eight hours as a blush.

On the lips, it was more comfortable to wear than the original Multiple formula (the additional slip helped!), and the less velvety feel made it appear more like a lip stain. The color lasted for three hours and didn’t actually stain, though.
