MAC Golden Age Cream Colour Base ($23.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “metallic antique bronze.” It’s a shimmering, golden bronze with warm undertones and a fine, pearly shimmer-sheen finish. Unless heavily layered, it had a much more subdued sheen than overtly shimmery. On eyes, it lasted for five hours before creasing, and on cheeks, it lasted for six and a half hours before migrating noticeably. The texture is creamy, highly emollient, and never fully sets, so it retains a dewier finish overall. It had semi-sheer, buildable coverage, as described. There was something about the base color that seemed harder to even out on the skin, though. This shade did include a warning that it is “not for use in the lip area” (Cream Colour Bases are multi-tasking products). ColourPop Candyman (P, $10.00) is warmer (90% similar). It had semi-sheer, buildable color payoff with a lightweight, emollient texture that never fully dries down, so it has a wetter finish on the skin but doesn’t look greasy.
