MAC Nutcracker Sweet Nude Lip Gloss Kit ($35.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) contains three Cremesheen Glasses and one Dazzleglass in variations on “nude.” Cremesheen Glass is supposed to be creamy, hydrating, and sheerer. Dazzleglass is supposed to have medium coverage with a hydrating, non-tacky formula filled with lots of shimmer/sparkle. In general, Cremesheen Glass tends to have a creamier, milkier quality to it, which makes it comfortable and hydrating to wear, but it often looks streaky, settles into lip lines, and is shorter wearing. Dazzleglass is moderately tacky, thicker, and wears longer and has tons of sparkle, but it is more semi-sheer in coverage. What I’ve always found funny about the holiday gloss sets is that they’re called “minis,” but they’re larger than full-size.

Fashion Whim is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones paired with a cream finish and very, very fine pearl. It had semi-sheer coverage that didn’t appear streaky on the lips, but the milkier consistency caused the gloss to settle into every lip line. Pure Delight is a muted, medium peachy-brown with warm undertones and fine gold pearl. It seemed more washed out once I applied it to the lips, which is something that can happen as the gloss itself was semi-sheer and allowed for the natural lip color to come through. The color pulled into lip lines noticeably, though the more subdued color made it harder to notice from a normal viewing distance compared to Fashion Whim. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage–mostly coverage by shimmer/sparkle–with a very high shine.
