MAC Marble Faun Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) has a translucent base with white and light gold pearl and larger flecks of sparkle. It had “semi-sheer” coverage in the form of sparkle, which dispersed evenly across my lips. There was some milkiness to the base color (hence translucent and not clear), as there was a bit of whitish product in my lip lines. MAC’s formula does have sheerer and more opaque shades, but they infrequently describe them as sheer (when it seems like the shade was intended as sheer).

The consistency was smooth, light-medium in thickness but not heavy to wear, and it had moderate tackiness. It was comfortable to wear for the three and a half hours it lasted for and was hydrating over time.

Formula Overview

The Lipglass formula is supposed to be “pigmented, very shiny and can impart subtle or dramatic color” that can be worn “on its own, over lip pencil or lipstick” and will “condition lips.” MAC could use an update on the description as some shades are more pigmented than others but several are sheerer and likely intended to be that way. The formula has a very glossy, high-shine finish with a light-medium weight and moderate tackiness.

I have found that newer Lipglasses (over the last couple of years) are smoother and not quite as tacky as the formula was many years ago. They wear from three to six hours on me and are usually lightly hydrating. MAC recently updated the shade range and packaging for the range (though the formula was said to be unchanged), so worth noting is that with that packaging change came a reduction in quantity to 0.10 fl. oz. (was 0.17 fl. oz.), which may matter for some but not everyone.

MAC Nature Freak Lipglass ($17.50 for 0.1 oz.) is a medium-dark gold with warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had medium color coverage in a single layer, which did not go on as evenly as it could have. There was slight product that sat in my lip lines, too, though from afar, it it had enough shine and sparkle to it that it was hard to notice the deficiencies in application.

The lipgloss had a smooth, moderately tacky consistency that was thicker than the average gloss, but I didn’t find it thick or heavy, so it was comfortable while having decent wear time (for a gloss) at four and a half hours with a hydrating formula behind it.
