MAC Gemz and Roses Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy plum with warm undertones and a metallic “matte” finish. The liquid lipstick dried down to a matte, transfer-resistant finish, but it was still shimmery. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer that applied well across the lips with even, smooth color distribution that dried down fast enough not to gather in my lip lines. It wore well for seven hours and was slightly drying over time.

The formula is supposed to have "pure matte metallic colour" that "lasts and lasts" for eight hours. Most of the shades were quite pigmented--semi-opaque to opaque--and applied evenly, though there were a few misses that had more watery textures that either lacked in pigmentation or went on patchily. I'd say about half the range felt non-drying over time but some were noticeably drying. They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

MAC Metallic Rose Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and fine gold and silver pearl. It had rich color payoff in a single layer that applied evenly across the lips and dried down without appearing streaky or emphasizing my lip lines. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and spreadable without being too thin or too watery. This shade stayed on well for seven hours and was a bit drying after five hours of wear.

MAC Silver Spoon Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a deep gray with a cooler, almost purplish undertone and a fine, metallic shimmer over a matte finish. It had medium coverage, and it did not apply evenly at all on me. The formula dried down fully within 30 seconds, and it could take a second layer without getting too wrinkled or thick but seemed to make it more prone to flaking a bit away from the center of the lips while it wore (when it didn’t do that with just a single layer). On its own (just one layer), it lasted well for six and a half hours on me and was non-drying.
