Hourglass Verse Extreme Sheen High Shine Lip Gloss ($28.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “light beige shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, peachy-beige with bronze and lighter peach shimmer. MAC Nectarsweet (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Freestyle (P, $20.00) is darker. bareMinerals Dazzler (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery. Revlon Peach (P, $7.49) is similar. The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with a “high-shine” finish that is also hydrating. While I have definitely used shades in the range that fit the bill as far as intense pigmentation goes, Verse is significantly short of “richly pigmented.” It’s more sheer to semi-sheer with a fair amount of shimmer but little in the way of color; adds warmth and evens out the natural lip color but does not alter it much. The consistency is light-medium in weight, thin but noticeable applied, and lightly tacky. It lasted two and a half hours, and after wearing it twice in a row, it seemed to be moderately hydrating. I wish I had bought a different shade–if this had been opaque, I’d have been so much more impressed.
