What is a Color Story? You can create and share your own color combinations as a Color Story, which can represent a makeup look, whether it includes products for a full look or focuses on just an eyeshadow combination you want to share. You can also create and share your own dream palettes, like your perfect travel palette or play around with organizing shades that you own into a cohesive palette.

If you’re a reader who has enjoyed the color combinations I share for various eyeshadow palettes (tagged as makeup look inspiration), this feature is a play on those.  You’ll also find all of those color combinations available as Color Stories, so you can love them, save them for later, or get save a collage of the combo on the fly.

Create a Color Story

First, we invite you to create your own color story! It’s a two-step process.  The first step is adding the products to your color story, and then you can choose whether to display the images across two, three, or four columns.  From there, you can drag and rearrange the products as you like.  The second step is where you categorize the type of story (is it an eyeshadow look or a custom palette?), give it a title, and tell us more about the color story (like your inspiration).

Enjoy a Color Story

Each Color Story can viewed as group of product photos (default view) or as swatches (just click “Swatches” button!), which may look familiar as it’s the same setup we have for the sneak peek swatches I post.  You can LOVE a Color Story, which is kind of a thumbs up to the creator that you enjoyed it, and you can always find it under the Loves in your user profile.  You can SAVE a Color Story, which is a good way to bookmark it for later–like a look you want to try or perhaps a palette you want to recreate.

You can click the GET SHAREABLE IMAGE button, which will generate a collage of the images based on the view you have selected (either products or swatches).

Browse Color Stories

You’ll find that your user profile now includes a section for Color Stories.  Here, you’ll find all of the Color Stories you’ve created and shared.

You can also click the “SAVED” button to view all of the Color Stories you’ve saved!

You can browse through all Color Stories but can also refine by product used (look up a specific product, and it will list any results for that product), product type, color, undertone, finish, brand, and category (type of Color Story).
