Chanel Candeur et Experience (268) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($62.00 for 0.07 oz.) is an all-mate, neutral palette with a pop of rusty copper. The palette has been available for some time but served as the inspiration for the rest of the brand’s fall collection. Since it was included with the launch, I figured I’d re-photograph, -swatch, and -review. The eyeshadows felt softer and more finely-milled compared to the original quad, and I noticed the fourth shade went on a bit darker on me (enough that I made it a separate shade).

Candeur et Experience #1 is a light-medium brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had a silky, smooth consistency that was dense without being overly firm in the pan. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that adhered well to bare skin and blended out easily. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Candeur et Experience #2 is a very light, golden brown with strong,w arm undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage in a single pass, which applied evenly to bare skin and diffused with ease along the edges without losing its opacity. The consistency was smooth, velvety and not at all powdery but easy to pick up with a brush. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

It had nearly opaque color payoff paired with a smooth, silky texture that was finely-milled without being powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade lasted well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Candeur et Experience #4 (2020) is a medium-dark, taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The color seemed to darken slightly when applied to my skin, which wasn’t an issue I had with the other three shades, though I didn’t have issues blending it out on my skin during application.

The texture was smooth, silky, and finely-milled but not powdery (which is hard to find!) and yielding to a dry brush. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that could be built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.
