China Glaze Just Be-Claws Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “red with an aluminum-like mirror finish.” It’s a medium-dark, rich ruby red with subtle, cool undertones and a high-shine, metallic finish. There is a lot of depth to this color–China Glaze really knocked this one out of the park. It was mostly opaque after one coat, but I applied two coats to be sure, and you’ll find there’s a richness to the finish with two. The consistency of the formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it spread evenly and without bubbling or pooling along the edges. Cult Nails Annalicious (LE, $12.00) is warmer but similar in the finish. China Glaze Cranberry Splash (LE, $7.50) is very similar, slightly cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

Put a Bow on It Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “magenta glitter.” It’s a sparkling, muted pink-shimmered purple micro-glitter. It has a sandy, sparkly texture, and it dries to a mostly matte finish (the sparkle isn’t totally matte). This shade was mostly opaque after two coats. The consistency was on the thinner side. I don’t have any dupes for this shade, especially because of the finish; the only shade I considered was Zoya Carly (P, $8.00), which is darker and has a totally different finish (they’re not dupes at all).

This is Tree-mendous Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “green with fine gold glitter.” It’s a mix of light-medium, yellow-toned green, emerald green, and light gold micro-shimmer and micro-glitter. It has that sandy, sparkly texture that’s mostly matte but still sparkles here and there. The consistency of the formula was thinner and a little watery, and the color payoff was still noticeably sheer after two coats. Ironically, I think it’s too dense, though, to work better as a top coat, as it will cover a lot of the underlying polish, but using a green or gold polish underneath for one coat would help this look more opaque with less coats. The only other green sand-textured shade I have is Zoya Chita (P, $8.00), which is several shades darker and less warm-toned.

China Glaze Mingle with Kringle Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “fierce gold with aluminum-like mirror finish.” It’s a vibrant, rich yellow gold with a metallic, foil-like finish and larger copper flecks of sparkle. It was fully opaque after applying two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too then, so the polish applied evenly and smoothly without pooling along the edges. Zoya Kerry (P, $8.00) is yellower. Chanel Gold Fingers (LE, $27.00) is darker. ORLY Flare (P, $5.00) is darker. See comparison swatches.

Be Merry, Be Bright Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “multi-magenta purple glitter.” It consists of violet and fuchsia glitter in three sizes ranging from small to medium and hexagon in shape. The glitter is suspended in a clear base, so it is best as a layering top coat. I applied two coats of the polish alone on my thumb nail to show the density of the glitters, and then I applied one coat over Mingle with Kringle. It does need to be tugged into place to a degree, as the glitters sometimes concentrate in one area. KBShimmer Would Jubilee It? (P, $8.75) is the only one I have that is similar, but it also has light blue and navy blue glitter in it. See comparison swatches.

All Wrapped Up Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “midnight purple and blue glitter.” It’s a medium-dark, muted purple with lighter purple and silver micro-glitter. It had a textured finish, though not as “sandy” as some. It had mostly opaque coverage after two coats. The formula wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it didn’t seem troublesome when I applied it, but there are a few areas that look bald. L’Oreal The Reign of Studs (LE, $6.99) is less blue-based. China Glaze Skyscraper (LE, $8.00) is darker. See comparison swatches.

Your Present Required Nail Lacquer ($7.50 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “multi-sized and multi-colored glitter.” It’s a mix of light blue, medium blue, navy blue, lavender, copper, and gold glitters in small and medium and in circular and hexagon shapes. It could have used more density, as even two coats of it alone was rather sparse. I ended up needing to apply two coats to all nails to get a better effect. China Glaze Pizzazz (LE, $8.00) is finer and brighter. See comparison swatches.

I typically get a week of wear with China Glaze’s formula with minor tip wear but no chips.

China Glaze Strap On Your Moon Boots Nail Lacquer ($14.00 MSRP for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “midnight sky blue.” It’s a darkened, stormy blue with linear, holographic shimmer. I couldn’t come up with any dupes, though, even for something similar in color (but without holographic shimmer).

This looks many times more interesting in the photos than it ever looked in person. I found it difficult to detect the holographic effect under indoor light, because it is very, very subtle. My camera did a far better job picking up the holographic shimmer than my own two eyes did! In brighter light, like sunlight, it is somewhat more obvious, but it’s not a strong holographic effect (definitely not the “strong linear finish” they noted in the press release) and at double the price, disappointing to see (or not see, in this case).

I had no trouble applying Strap On Your Moon Boots, though.  It dries down faster than the average polish, and as a result, it’s important to wait for the first coat to dry before applying a second as it will pull at the polish if it is still drying.  I used two coats for completely opaque color coverage.  I tested this particular shade for wear, and it lasted five days with minor tip wear but after seven days, the tip wear was more than my norm for both China Glaze and polish in general (and if you’re not familiar with my reviews, most polishes wear a week on me and chipping is very rare).

China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On Nail Lacquer ($8.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “sea foam green.” It’s a pale, sea foam green (or aqua green, if you prefer) with very fine white micro-shimmer. Butter London Fiver is the closest shade I have to this, but Fiver is a cream finish (no shimmer) and a touch lighter. MAC In the Limelight is bluer, darker, and a cream.

The formula was slightly on the thicker side but still rather manageable, so it wasn’t troublesome to work with when I applied it. Keep Calm, Paint On was full opaque in color after two medium coats of polish. Despite its pale coloring, I didn’t have issues with streaking, which tends to be something that pastels are prone to.  It applied fairly evenly and smoothly, and it didn’t bubble or pool along the edges.  The drying time seemed a bit faster than the average polish with this color.  I usually get a week of wear with minor tip wear but no chipping with China Glaze’s formula.
