bareMinerals The Hollywood Ending Eyeshadow Duo ($20.00 for 0.09 oz.) was disappointing as a duo. I don’t think that they work that well together, because the drier consistency of more frosted Dazzle doesn’t play so well with the more matte finish of Promise. It’s an unusual pair of colors, but this one didn’t knock it out of the park–and I’m so accustomed to bareMinerals doing so with the Ready range!

Promise is described as a “creamy beige.” It’s a cool-toned, pink-tinged beige with a mostly matte finish. It had excellent color payoff, while the consistency was soft, smooth, and very finely-milled. The color started to creas after ten hours of wear. theBalm Matt Smith (LE, $16.00) is less pink. Urban Decay Walk of Shame (P, $18.00) is lighter. MAC Lithe Spirit (LE, $15.00) is a touch lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dazzle is described as a “midnight teal.” It’s a deepened, dark green-based teal with a frosted finish and cool undertones. The texture seemed soft initially, but there’s a slight dryness to it that is particularly visible when applied to the skin–it just doesn’t have the same really smooth, even, blendable texture that many Ready eyeshadows do. The color did, however, wear well for ten and a half hours before fading slightly. This shade was included in a previously limited edition holiday palette. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Siren #7 (LE) is a touch lighter. bareMinerals Deep Sea (LE, $14.00) is similar. Sephora Collection Midnight Swim (16) (P, $13.00) is darker, less shimmery.
