Anastasia Shadow Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($30.00 for 0.30 oz.) incldues twelve eyeshadows. Five of the twelve shades are available as individual shades from the brand’s permanent range of eyeshadows. They’re housed in slim cardboard with an interior mirror and dual-ended brush (which is okay, nothing amazing but usable). Some shades are good, some are so-so, and a few are misses. For the price point, you may find that using primer to solve at least half of the issues I experienced with some of the under-performing shades and make it still “worth it” as a result. The most troublesome shades were Heirloom (brings down the palette from B range to near C+ range!), Spoiled, and Chic.

Soft Peach is a light-medium, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was moderately powdery though soft and fairly smooth in the pan. It had good pigmentation but prone to sheering out and fading over time. On me, the color lasted for seven hours before fading. Anastasia Orange Soda (P, $12.00) is darker. Morocco is a medium-dark, reddish-brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture that blended well but sheered out easily. Heirloom is a blackened purple with purple and silver sparkle. The sparkle completely lifts from the base powder, which gives you more of a satin-like finish, and the eyeshadow itself is incredibly powdery. It’s just dusty and needs a tacky, white base to perform decently. Without a helper like that, patting it on and blending as little as possible is my best advice. Bellini is a brightened, medium golden-orange with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation with a fairly soft, blendable consistency that leaned a little powdery but wasn’t too difficult to work with. The texture seemed denser than other shades, and it didn’t combine as well with a lot of the satin/matte shades in this palette. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me. Pink Champagne is a sparkling, rosy taupe brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had good pigmentation, but it is loosely bound together, so it tended to sheer out on the lid and have a fair amount of sparkle fall out when initially applied. I think this shade is one I would consider using a with a damp brush or over a tacky primer to maximize its intensity/finish. On me, the color wore for just over seven hours with some fall out. It had semi-sheer color payoff with a slightly sparkly texture, so it wasn’t super smooth in feel, and there was some fall out over the seven hours it lasted. Spoiled is a softened, light-medium peachy-brown with a golden sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation with a firmer texture that made it harder to get color out of the pan. Metallic is a muted, medium yellow gold with subtler, warm undertones (not a true yellow gold, there’s an antique quality to the color) paired with a metallic sheen. The texture was soft but a little loose/crumbly in the pan, so it is better applied with a firmer brush and packed onto the lid with less blending motions to avoid excessive fall out.
