Diddo… and I think my mouth started watering… I want this soooo badly, but I would have to give up a couple months of rent so it’s not happening 🙁

rashmi Avatar

My God !

nooooooooooooooooo not at all craving but one thing which I alwayssss craved is , I win a giveaway here which I can FLAUNT my whole life and make people burn with jealousy and hate me to death and taunt me with nasty things coz I won ….

so yeah if I win this then it would def. add some brownie points in my account 🙂

ahhhhhhh
its 11.54 p.m. here and am going to sleep with this thought

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

I only have Vice 2, so rationalization is poking me in the side to get the Mother Lode. Still, UD e/s is SOOOO frosty, and I ain’t gettin’ any younger! I’d have to take a hard look at the breakdown of mattes vs. frosts, glitters and satins to truly justify a decision like this. LOL

Katie Avatar

I have all the old ones (a total of 80 or 90 some) if anyone wants to buy them off me for a much lower price hahaha. Most are even unused!! jk.. i’ll probably just give them to my sister.

AS1929 Avatar

Glad they brought this back. But I wonder if they are stocking enough for it to last more than a few hours this time. It would be nice if some people who will use it can get it at this price, not just the ebay scalpers who were selling the Eyeliner Vault for $500-1000 last time.

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

Oh, thanks A LOT, Christine! -_- Well, too late now. It’s in my cart. Hopefully they’ll last until the VIB event. Otherwise, I won’t get it.

Our health insurance just took a huge hit for 2014. We’ll have to pay $1,000+ per month for prescriptions alone come January 1, so we’re ordering 90 day supplies of everything now to offset the cost, which is really putting a damper on my Sephora cart. *cries* LOL

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

Thanks, Christine. The Corporation my husband works for is really taking full advantage of Obamacare by cutting benefits to almost nil for people with chronic illness. 😡

Mariella Avatar

Yeah but the problem is even if you bought this, a month from now, one of the companies would come out with some new shadows or a new palette and even though you owned this one from UD, you’d still think (well, if you’re anything like me) “Yeah, but I NEED that new shadow; even though I already have 573 shadows, I don’t have anything exactly like THAT shadow!”

Miss Jimendrix Avatar

I know what you mean.. in any case, I can’t really see myself wanting to purchase this kit (mainly because I usually find UD eyeshadows to be too shimmery).
Sadly, I think this set represents consumerism taken totally out of control… unless you do make up for a living or particularly love UD. Seems to me that 68 shades is more than what most of us will use for the rest of our life.

KaseyCannuck Avatar

If I was 20 years younger…make that 25…yeah, this would be a lifetime supply of every colour I could ever want. I already have 2…possibly 4…lifetimes worth of makeup, so it’s definitely overkill for me. It is nice to look at, though…

Kaitlin Avatar

I would LOVE to have this, but a lot of these colors look so similar it would just make more sense to buy 1 shade of several similar ones offered. I’ll still drool and dream about it though.

Olivia Avatar

>mfw I have 46 of these colors in the eyeshadow palette and I only truly want 2 of the ones I’m missing… haha.

Plus I don’t really care for the 24/7 liners. They don’t stay put on me : (

xamyx Avatar

I have around 40 of the shadows, as well, and even among the ones I don’t have either I never wanted them, or UD released something so similar along the way I can’t justify buying it. The only 2 I want are Bordello & Maui Wowie, which would be alot less expensive just buyimg them separately.

I’m also one who can’t seem to wear the pencils… I’m always so tempted, though!

MakeupTray Avatar

My God!!! Tempting but for these prices you can buy a Kors, Coach and other high end bags, IPAD,IPOD, LCDTV etc.. and have it for years and years.

Cindi Avatar

That is an incredible bargain, but I won’t be asking Santa for this. I already have more makeup and especially palettes from Urban Decay that I am on a no buy for a while. Storage space is starting to become scarce, and I have to actually use some of this up before I can add more. I wish I could get that under my tree though. I am asking for a Michael Kors rose gold watch instead.

Heather Avatar

Seems like an amazing deal, but I honestly don’t think I could find it in myself to spend over $500 on eye shadows. The quality is great, but to me too many of these colors look alike as well. Might spend the money on the pencils though. That is, if they’re around still when I have the money. :/

Kris Avatar

HOLY MOTHER OF WHAT THE HELL. This is nuts. My storage space is running low, though, and I found the past two iterations of UD (Naked Basics and Theodora palette) to have become quite powdery! Extremely soft, but fallout isn’t just inconvenient, it actually makes me not reach towards either palettes.

BUT IT IS SO SHINY.

Mariella Avatar

Oh my sainted aunt and all things holy! If I had $700 to blow on eye shadows (that’s probably what this would cost in Canada) and the space to store it, I would so be buying these…well, sorta… (I can recognize excess when I see it and for me, this would be excess, partly because I have quite a few of these already and there are a few I don’t really want because of UD’s uncontrollable glitter). But looking at this is like what some folks must feel when they look at a Lamborghini! But compared to the price of the Lambo, this shadow set is chump change, I guess.

tzwiggy Avatar

I ordered the eyeliner set! I thought about waiting for the 20% off sale, but I’m pretty sure they’re sold out by then.

I want the eyeshadows, but I know I’ll never use any of the glittery shades, and I have a lot of the frosted and matte ones already.

Jen Avatar

Same here! Soooo tempting, but then I remember how the glitter shades just do not work on me. They don’t flatter me AND the glitter would end up in my eye if I used Elmer’s Glue to put it on. Thank goodness, as I really don’t need to spend that kind of money on eyeshadow.

That said, I should maybe spend a bit on some of the individual shades that aren’t in any of my palettes.

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

Same here. I did a [FIND] function for the words shimmer and glitter in Christine’s rundown of the Mother Lode: 55 hits for shimmer but only 11 for satin/matte. That makes the Mother Lode a no for me.

AngieButterfly Avatar

Calculate how much your eyeshadow collection is worth and perhaps this would have even been a steal. It would have been in my case, in all honesty.

Gabby Avatar

Someday…I will win the lottery & the Mother Lode Shadow Set is what I will buy 😀 Too expensive for me to afford right now, but wow it looks stunning!

My parents & sisters gifted the Liner Vault to me for my birthday when it first came out – it was the best present ever. I use the liners every day & adore them – I know the formula doesn’t work for everyone, but luckily it’s amazingly long-lasting & budge-proof on me. I just wish they would come out with a True Red or Burgundy shade…I think it’s really the only color missing that I can think of.

JANECHEMI Avatar

oh gosh that would be great. i have a soft spot for red/burgundy eye products and always scoop up any that i see. i love their eye pencils and i know i would stock up if they ever released those colors

Anitacska Avatar

I bought the Vault when it came out, but I won’t be buying the eyeshadow set. I know it’s a good deal and all, but it’s just too expensive and massive! The Vault is big enough, I can’t fit another big thing in my bedroom! 😀

Carrie Avatar

You know that pounding in your heart you get when you see someone really attractive and you feel instantly attracted to them? That’s what happened to me when I saw this.

Laura_Lou Avatar

OMG! That is insane and so amazing! I would love to have both of those sets. There is no way on earth I would could ever justify spending that amount of money on makeup in one go.

Amber Avatar

I already have the eyeliner vault…now I wish I had $600 lying around for the eyeshadow vault! Sadly though, I think I already have about 90% of the listed shades from various other pallettes.

haley Avatar

Dear God, this is sooo tempting. My heart literally skipped a beat! Mac should so come out with something like this, I wouldn’t even think twice about clicking buy now!

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

MAC isn’t hungry enough anymore. That’s why their quality and lack of innovation have fallen so sharply in recent years. A real shame, but newer brands like MUFE, UD, Illamasqua are filling the gap nicely.

divinem1 (Melissa) Avatar

Yes, I looked at their sets; but I purchased the MUFE Wild & Chic Collector’s Set that came in the train case in 2011. I was just starting my MUFE collection, so it had several items I knew I would use and now own. I have most of everything they’re selling in their set this year, so it’s a pass for me. 🙂

AngieButterfly Avatar

Whenever UD brings these out it kind of makes me wish I didn’t buy so many palettes in the past. This eyeshadow set is exactly what I want. No fuss or feeling the need to collect every palette, and it has all of their amazing colors. Plus, any I don’t like I can always give away. There’s no shadow that sits there and dies like with palettes. Lol.

Lizzi Avatar

I got the eyeliner set when it was released back in spring, so I’m good on that one. LSD is by far my favorite UD eyeliner, I use it immensely. But the eyeshadow set, even though it’s a great deal, is a pass for me. A bit high in the price tag.

Alison Avatar

I, too, would love to have the eyeshadow set but I look at it this way:

I have 25 of the 68 shadows and I don’t want 8 of the 68 (the glitter bomb ones) so that leaves me with 35 shadows that I do want. If I were to buy all 35 individually it would cost me $630 so that is only $35 saved.

BUT, I would get backups of the 25 I already have and could give away the ones I don’t. The only way I would buy it is if it last to the VIB sale and even then it would be a LOT of money. Like someone else said, I could buy things that would last a lot longer than makeup but it is SOOOO pretty!!!

Laurie Avatar

Super pretty set!! If I was a makeup beginner that didn’t have any makeup at all I would consider buying it! 🙂 Oh well I only wear neutral shades so I will still past on this 🙂 The set looks pretty though!

Melinda Avatar

EVIL!!! If I didn’t already own tons of eyeshadows already I would buy the mother lode. I already have a hard time using all my bareMineral Ready shadow palettes and all the other stuff I have. I’ve barely even touched my Tarte True Blood palette.

Susan Dowman Nevling Avatar

Thank you for the review on this. I have been coveting the Vault- eye pencils since I missed out on them last year. I was able to get them tonight! I would love to get the Shadow set but just can’t afford it right now. Maybe next year or next pay period if still out there. I am a huge UD fan; especially the eye make up.

Asleif Avatar

I have shadows from ysl that are 15 years old lol, and they’re still in perfect shape, so i don’t know if that is just a disclaimer used by companies

zainab Avatar

I kind of want the eyeshadows, but I think it’s short circuiting my ‘want reflex’, because all I can think of is ‘you’d never hit pan on these’, and ‘where would you put this, so the two year old can’t reach it?’. I find myself wanting Vice2 instead because 20 is easier to process than 68.

Kelly Avatar

My boyfriend is buying me the eyeshadow set for Christmas! Just waiting for the VIB sale at Sephora. I’ll be calling everyday to make sure they have it in stock till then.

Rikki B Avatar

This is truly nuts.. I ‘m sitting on my couch just FLOORED by the concept of these kits. I don’t even want the actual products.. I just want the packaging for the makeup so I can store my gazillion liners and shadows. Lol. Also, since I’m allergic to pinks and purples (which tends to extend to the blues and blacks unfortunately), this would never be worth my while. It is fun to lust after it, though! I told my friend about it and she was like “you have way more $ invested into your makeup”.. and she’s right. But still to shell out this much money one ONE splurge is NUTS!! Good for all of you that can get it 🙂

xamyx Avatar

My funds are limited due to playing Santa, so I’ll be passing. Besides, I have 2/3+ of the shadows, and the liners are completely useless for me…

Ghina Avatar

I can’t close my mouth when I see this. This is amazing. I don’t need to buy another eyeshadow for the rest of my life ( Just kidding at least for a long time). I guess UD got the name from cheat code of The Sims 1 😉

Diva Avatar

This would be a really good item to use that upcoming VIB/VIB Rouge 20% off perk on for someone who is THAT interested. I justify a LOT of purchases–logically and illogically, ok, moreso illogically, lol–when it comes to purchasing makeup, but I can buy a high end handbag for this amount. It’s SOOOOO not happening. I rarely use the two UD palettes I already have, ha!

Kelley Avatar

Wow. The eyeshadow set is definitely amazing!!! I have probably sent my husband 3 or 4 text messages about this thing. As much as I would love to have it, I would feel horrible if he spent that much money to get it for me. But WOW!’

Jessalynn Avatar

I have both sets in my cart and I’m so close to buying them. I want to wait till the VIB event but I have a feeling Sephora will take them off the site just before it starts. Last year they did that cause they were sold out. Decisions, decisions !

Quinctia Avatar

Me: “Oh cool, I don’t think I could ever spring for that much in one go, but it’s a neat collection. I wonder how many I already…uh…how did I get so much eyeshadow.”

They’re nearly all in palette form, and, of course, there’s a large proportion that is the “old” formula, but I’ve got like half the shades already.

Sana Avatar

I caved in and got the eyeliners, because i’ve been wanting to collect all of the colors and just couldn’t pass up such a great deal.
I was considering getting the eyeshadows but…If i did i wouldn’t be able to justify ANY eyeshadow purchases for the next couple of years (and honestly, I love going gaga over new palettes.

Andrea Avatar

At first I wanted this but then I looked at the individual shadows and I already have all but two individually or in palettes. UD owns my soul. lol

Shannon Avatar

Bought both sets, and they arrived at the post office Saturday so I picked them up today! Love both sets, and even though I have over 30 different shades of the liners I can always use more! I love to use them as my finishing touch to my face, as eyeshadow/base, and some of the brighter colors like LSD and Junkie I like to use plain (with mascara) as a quick pop in my face. I have tons of UD palettes, but really like the thought of creating my own too! To bad I bought a handful of the shadow singles recently when UD had the F&F sale, but can always gift the duplicates of those! I am sure my daughter and niece won’t mind a bit 🙂 LOVE UD <3 and Merry Christmas to me!

Amanda Avatar

Just got my 24/7 pencil vault yesterday and it is truly mind blowing! I passed on the first release earlier this year so I was thrilled to snag it from Sephora- with my 20% VIB discount to boot! For the price it is so worth it! Individually they would be so much more expensive. The shadow set is also incredible but I own about 50 of the shades already as well as many of the limited edition shades not included here (released in palettes). If I was just starting out with UD I would say it’s a good buy but as many others have said, it would be a lifetime supply of shadow for anyone other than a professional makeup artist. Although, I’m sure my hubby would love for me to get it if that meant never buying any new makeup ever again! Lol!

Melody Avatar

I’m having g a dilemma. I really want this palette or either the motives cosmetics professional palette which is 340 for 48 colors. Which one would you choose between. I love urban decay, never tried motives but hear great things about it.
