Skill Level: Beginner-Moderate

Bare eye. Borrrrrrringgggg. For this tutorial, you will need the following: True Chartreuse pigment, Overgrown e/s, Lucky Green e/s, Humid e/s, Shimmermoss e/s, Electric Eel e/s, Freshwater e/s, Juxt e/s, and Nylon e/s. I only use two brushes – one to apply the pigment, and the other applies all of the shadows. They’re both fairly small brushes, with medium-firm bristles. One I bought from a craft store, and the other is Philosophy’s blending brush. I always apply my pigments using MAC’s water-based mixing medium by putting a tiny drop on my pigment brush, wiping off excess by brushing the brush against the top of my hand, and then I pick up a little bit of the actual pigment.

Apply True Chartreuse pigment all over lid. This isn’t a subtle or subdued look in the least, so we’re going to go for completely, outrageously bold. I start covering my lid completely, and then I start to take the brush and sweep it up and over my lid, closer to my browbone. In terms of shape, I just follow the natural shape of my brows/browbone – those are my guidelines, essentially.

It will look something like this when your eye is closed. So what if it’s sloppy?

And when your eye is open…

Pick up some Overgrown e/s with your blending brush and apply it to your inner lid. This is partially to just make sure the pigment itself is blended appropriately, as it is apparent that True Chartreuse pigment = Overgrown e/s. So those who missed out on Overgrown… True Chartreuse for ya.

Looks like that. Seriously, aren’t the two identical?!

Add some Lucky Green e/s next to the Overgrown e/s. Once again, this doesn’t add much. True Chartreuse gobbles whatever color Lucky Green is adding! Although, it adds shimmer. A bit of dimension.

And you get this.

Using some Shimmermoss e/s, hold your brush flat against your outer lid, and begin to gently dab on the color from your outer crease and bring the brush downwards to finish the rest of your outer lid.

and when they’re closed.

Taking Electric Eel e/s, hold your brush vertically from the beginning portion of where you put Shimmermoss e/s and place the color there, and then pull it towards your outer lid.

Now we’re getting some bang for our buck(s).

Since Lucky Green e/s didn’t do much, I’m adding some Humid e/s into the equation. Hold the brush vertically, but your stroke is going to be up and down, versus across. This gives you a little more precision. In terms of placement, you want it to mesh with both Lucky Green e/s and the teal-blue of your outer lid. It’s going to help create a gradient of color, breaking up the bright green and the bright blue.

How’s that?

Put some Freshwater e/s on your blending brush, and place the brush horizontally in the beginning of your innermost crease. Slowly do a combination of dabbing and very gentle brushing from the inner crease to outer crease. Grab more eye shadow if you need it. Honestly, I went over the crease area twice myself!

Pull the blue over your crease area.

And you’ll wind up with something akin to this.

Innermost crease is a little harsh, so lighten it up by picking up more Overgrown e/s and applying it to your inner corner by placing your brush vertically at a slant (in line with your natural eye shape) and pull upwards and slightly outwards, just to cover that area.

Now, let’s get rid of that harsh line, and all that yucky yellowish coloring. Using Juxt e/s, take your brush and begin just below your browbone, and similar to how you did your crease, dab and pull the color from the inner to the outer areas.

You’re probably thinking, “Man, this is too much color to the brow!” Yeah, so what. Picking up some Nylon e/s, repeat the brush, only start right below your inner brow, this is your highlighter. Did you think I would forget?

And slowly pull the color to the outer brow area.

Somehow Freshwater e/s got all eaten up! Sort of. Darken up your outer crease by using Shimmermoss e/s to incorporate the Freshwater e/s and the original teal-blue of the outer lid. Start mid-crease and pull it outwards and downwards into your outer lid.

Ta-da.

I like to line my lower lash line, so yeah. There was plenty of fall out from the overall application, I just added some Shimmermoss e/s to darken it up a little. Add your choice in eyeliner, mascara, etc.





I used True Chartreuse pigment all over lid, Overgrown e/s on inner lid, Lucky Green e/s on middle of lid, Humid e/s on middle of lid, Shimmermoss e/s on outer lid and outer crease, Electric Eel e/s on outer lid, Freshwater e/s in crease, Juxt e/s above crease, Nylon e/s on brow, and Shimmermoss e/s on lower lash line. I used Pinkerpeach/Trustfund blush duo on my cheeks, and I wore Rebel Rose l/s with dabs of Uberpeach chromeglass and Moonstone l/g on my lips.
