Tom Ford Lips & Boys is a collection of fifty (yes, FIFTY!) shades of miniature-sized lipsticks that are all limited edition. They were released as an “early access” deal during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend. The collection was set to launch officially on Tom Ford’s site on the 28th but launched early on the 27th. (My husband said, “Tom Ford duped you, because he got tired of you duping him!”) Within about six hours of launching, Stavros, Julian, and Addison had already sold out! I snagged these three (which I’ve dubbed The Lost Boys) on Cyber Monday. As some retailers are taking pre-orders now and shipping when they fully launch on December 26th, I thought what better way to kick off the Lips & Boys reviews than with the first three to sellout!

The Lips & Boys shades seem a lot smaller than the full-sized Lip Colors in their tubes, but in terms of actual product, it’s 0.07 oz. vs. 0.10 oz. These are actually cheaper by the ounce at $457.14/oz. compared to $500/oz. for full-size. I liked that the packaging felt the same as full-sized, just smaller, but it didn’t feel cheapened. The bullet of lipstick itself was also wide enough at the base that it didn’t feel really skinny or difficult to use, and it wasn’t prone at breaking at the base as some miniature-sized lipsticks are.

When you purchase three shades from Neiman Marcus, a box that fits the three is included. It’s a thick, glossy cardboard box with the gold logo to close it.

Tom Ford Stavros Lip Color ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a muted, dark taupe with mauve and cool undertones and a frosted finish. It had rich pigmentation that covered the lips evenly. The consistency was creamy and glided over lips easily. This shade lasted for five hours on me and was moisturizing over time. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Sebastian (P, $18.00) is lighter and less shimmery. MAC Soft Sable (LE, $16.00) is warmer, lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes. As a heads up, this shade isn’t even available for pre-order from what I could find, so it may be reign as the hardest shade to get–and it’s no wonder, as it is a more unique shade.

Tom Ford Julian Lip Color ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a cool-toned, muted, medium-dark pink with a lilac tone to it and a luminous finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that covered the lips evenly and hugged for longer-than-average wear but didn’t feel clingy. The formula was lightly creamy, comfortable to wear, hydrating, and lasted for five hours on me. NARS Anna (P, $32.00) is darker. MAC Vivid Imagination (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Addison Lip Color ($32.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly. I think the texture could have been slightly smoother overall, though. This shade wore well for four and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. Addison is the same as Pink Dusk, which was previously released. NARS Vanessa (P, $32.00) is a smidgen darker, cooler. NARS Anita (P, $32.00) is slightly darker. Kat Von D Lovecraft (P, $21.00) is cooler-toned, more matte. Givenchy Rose d’Exception (206) (LE, $36.00) is darker. MAC Flavour (LE, $16.00) is more matte. NARS Bolero (LE, $25.00) is more matte, lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
