Tom Ford Indian Rose Lip Color
A Rose in Bloom You Can Wear Everyday
Tom Ford Indian Rose Lip Color ($48.00 for 0.10 oz.) is medium rosy pink with subtle yellow undertones and a soft sheen. MAC Pink Treat is actually very similar–it’s matte in finish and a smidgen darker as a result. Becca Valentina is lighter. Bobbi Brown Pink Peony is darker. Bobbi Brown Nude Rose is just slightly darker. Guerlain Bloom of Rose is pinker.
Indian Rose has mostly opaque color coverage, and it delivers that coverage in a single pass. The consistency is about medium-weight (not thin but not heavy), creamy, and feels comfortable on. It doesn’t cling, and it dosen’t slide around, so the color stays even and wears well. When I tested the wear, I was able to get four and a half hours of wear, which is just over average. This shade was slightly moisturizing but not ultra hydrating. It has a sweetened vanilla scent (very similar to MAC’s vanilla-scented lipsticks) and no discernible taste. It’s encased in a brown square-shaped tube with “gold” trim.

Do u think this would work on nc42 skintone with pigmented lips? BB Pink Peony was waaay too dark on me. Is this much lighter or just a smidgen?
@Grace You’d probably want to go even lighter!
I love this formula as I’m sure I have raved enough about it in the past. There is a whole series of lovely rose colours that are somewhat similar in this line. Indian Pink is a great choice for medium complexions, but there is also Pink Adobe, Pink Dusk, and Spanish Pink. Pink Dusk and Spanish Pink and my two favs. This lip looks great on you, Christine 🙂
I think I wore this lipstick in a makeover some time ago. It was nice, I’m don’t wear much neutrals.
It’s very pretty, but not enough of a unique shade to be worth $48, in my opinion. It is lovely, though.
looks like a color i have by covergirl…
f0rtunefaded Do you know which one? I’d love to check it out.
GUSnail fairytale, you can try rimmel rose blush too
Wow, gorgeous every day color imo. I’ll be checking out one of the dupes though, as Tom Ford is too rich for my pocket.
Hi Christine!
Just a quick question, what is Guerlain Summer Blush (you are wearing on your cheeks)? I can’t think of what that product is for some reason!
@Joanna Guerlain Sunny Pink Terracotta Blush
i’m drooling over this. NEED
also those two bobbi brown lipsticks you listed as dupes are no longer available 🙁
MIRIANV When I list dupes, I list everything I can think of 🙂
This is definitely something I’d wear. Not too bright but not completely nude either. And sounds like it feels and smells good on the lips, too. I like!
This is a gorgeous shade of pink, something that I would wear despite not wearing lipstick. It looks beautiful on you too. And I LOVE that Guerlain blush you’re wearing!
This is kind of off topic but have you done a review or article on Tom Fords Nude Vanilla lipstick? If not, do you know any dupes for it?
BIs4beauty I haven’t, so I don’t know of dupes for it since I haven’t swatched!
This is GORGEOUS. I’m hesitating over $50 for 4.5 hours of wear, but…that color is just sumptuous. Sigh.Christine–your earrings! Wherever did you get them?
annedreshfield I believe these are from Forever 21!
This color is similar to some others I really like, and I’ve been meaning to pick up at least one of the dupes you mentioned. I figure a Rouge G is worth the price, and the Tom Ford formula is supposed to be great, too, so maybe I will hunt this down.
blueraccoon whispers in the background.. ‘do it.. do it..do it’….
wwendalynne lol, it’s actually really funny – I went to Nordstrom’s site to look at it, and realized I fell in love with Casablanca when Christine reviewed it, plus that’s my fave movie ever. So I can’t decide whether to get this or that!
blueraccoon uhmm..good luck with that! I love both and that is a tough call. But here’s the good news in my mind. I don’t think you can make a mistake either way. 🙂 Which do you prefer..rose or plum..’cause I think they have similar ‘weights’.. meaning intensity and payoff of colour. Perhaps Casablanca is a touch ‘darker’..both are earthier and muted versions of rose and plum tones without failing the look and going too warm. Does that make sense? You will have to share when you decide though.
blueraccoon hahahah..not the lipstick..just which one you chose! LoL
wwendalynne lol, i get it 🙂 Honestly, I want both so much it’s hard to say. I think Casblanca is a bit brighter, maybe, or darker, I’m bad with terms. But they’re both so pretty. aaaaaaaaahhhhhh! I may have to buy both.
I don’t like the price but….that looks so gorgeous on you!!!
I have this one! very nice dusty rose….
I actually got a bit excited when I saw the product photo, but after seeing the swatches, it looks *too* pink. At $48, I need it to be *perfect*.
xamyx Pink Dusk or even less ‘pink’ is the Spanish Pink! One of those could be even closer…These swatches are excellent:http://www.thebeautylookbook.com/2011/09/tom-ford-lipstick-swatches-pinks-nudes.html
Spanish Pink looks *amazing*, but now I’ve got my eye on Nude Vanille, LOL.
xamyx I have that one too 🙂 It’s quite pale and anyone beyond light to light/med would end up with concealer lips, but I seem to recall you are quite fair? I move back and forth between Spanish Pink and Nude Vanille all the time. Plus, the great thing about both these shades..it doesn’t matter what look I pull together, one of these is going to work. If I was pressed to pick one, I would go with Spanish Pink, but I think my skin tones are probably slightly darker than yours. I love the swatches above and I want all those muted rose colours and I really wouldn’t give a toss if no one else could tell the difference as long I I could *grin* 🙂
wwendalynne I’m drooiing all over the packaging now, too. Sigh. Too pretty!
The swatch actually looks like MAC Impressive to be but it could be a monitor issue.
This is an absolutely GORGEOUS shade of pink, and I want it! But…I will not pay $48 for a tube of lipstick! I’m trying (unsuccessfully I think!) to find a Bare Escentuals 100% Natural Lipcolor dupe…
Christine.. how would you compare it with Covergirl ‘Frevor’? Love this shade
@Cach2003 Hmm, do you really mean Fervor? Because it’s several shades darker and not pink at all. http://www.temptalia.com/covergirl-captivate-lip-perfection-lipcolor-swatches-photos-reviews-part-2
It looks beautiful on you! For $48 Tom Ford should be applying it personally!
basia77 Lol! My thoughts exactly. So expensive…
that looks amazing on you! A little steep for someone who prefers gloss though…
Wow, I love this shade–especially on you! I would go out and buy it based on your swatch, but being browner I am not sure it would be quite as $48-splurge-worthy on me. This kind of reminds me of the Salma Hayek Nuance lipstick in Dusty Rose, maybe I have a dupe already!
I. Have. To. Have. It. It’s the perfect rose. Thanks for sharing!
Ahluveet!
Tom Ford’s makeup is nice, but it makes me sick how much he charges for it!
How similar is this to Revlon’s lip butter in Pink Truffle, Christine? 🙂
@esther Browner, less pink – http://www.temptalia.com/revlon-pink-truffle-colorburst-lip-butter-review-photos-swatches
Christine which formula do you like more for this price? Rouge g or tom ford. With rouge G you get a bit more product and obviously the packaging, but does the tom ford formula prevail over it in your opinion?
MIRIANV It’s not even a contest – I far prefer Rouge Gs over Tom Ford. I don’t personally reach for Tom Ford lipsticks very often. Rouge Gs are far more hydrating, long-wearing, and much more nuanced.
