Bigger budgets mean a much bigger selection in gifts to give! I tend to set a budget around $50 or so for a lot of my immediate family/friends, though I do have a tendency to collect little “extras” throughout the holiday season and often go over budget.

Anyway, there are so many awesome gifts to choose from (a lot of the gifts featured throughout our holiday guides had my choice picks and plenty of ’em under $50), but here are some of my personal favorites. Share your favorite gifts under $50 in the comments!

Urban Decay 24/7 Super Stash ($36.00) is a superb collection of miniature-size eyeliners in a variety of bold shades. If you’ve been reading the blog for a bit, you’ll know that I favor these liners quite a bit–they’re often my go-to liner. I absolutely adore their holiday sets, because practically speaking, most of us won’t finish an entire pencil of blue, but half the size and cheaper? Yes, count me in! The set contains nine different shades: Binge, Corrupt, Eldorado, Graffiti, Oil Slick, Ransom, Rockstar, Stash, and Zero.

Bliss Softening Socks ($48.00) are these awesome socks that pretty much come with this gel lining that soothes and moisturizes your feet while you wear them. Bliss says that a pair of socks lasts for up to fifty uses (not too bad!) and you wear ’em for about twenty minutes. (You can even get them in a nifty holiday gift box at Bliss.) You can also give the same technology, but for hands (gloves, rather than socks, duh!).

Holiday 2009 Gift Guide: Gifts Under $25

If you’re looking for an affordable gift or one to add to your recipient’s pile, I find the under $25 category to be pretty fruitful. (If we’re being honest, if your budget is under $30, it opens even more doors for you!) Many gift and value sets range in the upper $20s to upper $30s, but don’t forget — you can always buy one really awesome full-sized product for under $25 from most brands.

What are some of your favorite gifts under $25?

Buy Full-Size! If you know your gift recipient just loves X lipstick, it might not be a bad idea to help them stock up. Consider lipgloss, lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush, or nail polish–so many shades to choose from!

China Glaze Wizard of Ooh Ahz Set ($18.00) is a great way to add a little dazzle to nails on a budget.

Philosophy’s The Recipe Box Set ($18.00) is a good option if you’re on a slimmer budget (or you just have a lot of friends and would like to spread the love a bit more). It’s a cute little set in a gift-ready box and red bow tied on top. It contains two 6 oz. shower gels: Sweet Creamy Frosting and Red Velvet Cake. Korres has a lot of value-packed sets available for holiday as well as year-round (nothing wrong with giving one of those, y’know), so if you’re thinking about giving the gift of Korres this holiday season, there’s a good variety of sets to choose from.

Godiva Candles ($22.50 for 7 oz.) have some very aromatic scents that burn for apporixmately sixty hours. I don’t burn candles religiously, but I really love receiving them as gifts, because they’re something I do enjoy but don’t always feel compelled to actually purchase (though that’s been changing, ha!).

Philosophy Shower Gels ($16.00) come in a variety of scents, so you can easily personalize your gift for each person on your list. I adore these, and I practically collect them (though I use them!).

L’Occitane Try Me Shea Set ($15.00) includes several trial sizes of their Shea collection, including Shower Cream, Body Lotion, Shampoo, Conditioner, Face Soap, and Hand Cream, all in a little pouch.

I must admit that finding fun gifts to give (or receive) under $10 (and mind you, I was strict about it being under $10… so nothing that was even $10 would do!), but I managed to find a few items to my liking! Not too surprising, but I found Bath & Body Works to be the best bet for finding cute gifts under $10. What are your favorite beauty gifts to give under $10?

Bath & Body Works Deep Cleansing Soap ($4.50 for 8 fl. oz.) are extremely affordable at-home-with-beauty options that work well in just about every household. B&BW has a whole slew of scents to choose from, but one of my favorites to keep in the household is Kitchen Lemon. I just love me a fresh lemon citrus smell in the kitchen!

C.O. Bigelow Mini Mentha Frosty Trio Set ($8.00) includes three mini-sized Mentha Lip Shines in Original, Cinnamint, and Spearmint.

Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1 ($6.50) is a 0.5 oz. tube lip balm that helps combat the cool winter winds and keep lips looking their best. One of my favorite lip balms when you’re not looking for color but just moisture.

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine ($7.50) are available in several different scents, but my personal holiday favorite is Warm Spiced Cider! There’s also Hot Buttered Rum, Triple Hot Chocolate, and Vanilla Cream Eggnog for the holiday season.

Bath & Body Works Anti-Bacterial Hand Lotion ($4.00) are travel-sized and easy to take with you wherever you spend the holidays or make a lightweight addition to your purse.

TanTowel Beauty Puck Deodorant Towelettes ($6.50) includes thirty disposable deodorant towelettes for on-the-go freshening. Hey, give it to someone you’re comfortable with, but they seem so handy. Keep one in your purse for those days where you’re rushed and totally forget to use your deodorant!

Bath & Body Works PocketBac Deep Cleansing Hand Gel ($1.50) are purse-sized (or… pocket-sized!) anti-bacterial hand gel for on-the-go cleansing. These are easy to add to any gift you’re giving! (And since I’ve had two separate flus in the past two months… let me tell you, I am well-stocked on these myself!)

Bath & Body Works Double Layer Shea Socks ($7.50) are cute, winter-themed socks with shea butter inside. You can wash these and get up to twenty-five usages. (These are just similar to the much pricier Bliss Spa socks!) I’ll be getting a pair for my Mom, but I’ll probably send a pair to my grandma, too!

I have to admit; when I was putting together this selection of gifts to give (or receive!), I considered and chose a lot of gifts that I thought would make sense for me–because beauty wise? I am kind of this girl. I don’t think it’d be honest to try and downplay that I have a respectably sized beauty stash, so let’s not sugarcoat it: I don’t really need more makeup (in fact, need has long as since been replaced with want). So I thought to myself, “What could others give me that would still excite me?”

I am also notorious for my lack of patience, so when there’s something I want (beauty or otherwise), I tend to buy it myself if I really want it.

Urban Decay Show Pony Shadow Box ($30.00) contains six shades of eyeshadow – a good mix of funky, brighter shades with more neutral toned shadows, plus a miniature-sized 24/7 Eye Pencil in Zero and Eyeshadow Primer Potion. The shades included in this palette are Snatch, Mildew, Flash, Painkiller, Smog, and Toasted. I do have this already, but it’s a palette that some beauty buffs may overlook in lieu of the BoS II.

Smashbox Wish For The Perfect Pencils ($32.00) includes five, full-sized and stunning limited edition shades of pencil eyeliner (Celebrate, Dream, Hope, Love, and Wish). Smashbox did a tremendous job formulating these eye pencils–they are definitely a top formula and wear so well. These are so fantastic in quality and only available for the holiday season that I think the seasoned beauty shopper would appreciate this surprise.

BURN Candles ($60.00 for ~100 hours) come in amazing, complex scents that really waft throughout the room/rooms. I’ve found that I’ll burn one in the office, and the scent will be in the living room/kitchen and even in the bedroom. The scent is just enough to enjoy without being overwhelming. For the holidays, they’ve added the following scents: Firewood Embers, Grenadine Pomegranate and Sugar Pine Balsam. If you’re finding the price tag a little gift-giving prohibitive, they also have their BURN VOYAGE line, which are smaller-sized candles for $25.00 each that burn for approximately 35 hours. (On the other side, they also have candles that burn for approximately 150 hours for $95.00 a pop.) You can also find BURN at Barneys.

Tom Ford Private Blend Eau de Parfum ($180.00 for 1.7 oz.) is an ultra elegant, so luxe gift to give (and uhh, receive? Oh, yes, please!). While I haven’t yet caved on any of Tom Ford’s amazing scents yet, I do take a sniff and test them whenever I’m at Nordstrom! Everyone I know who’s purchased a bottle hasn’t been disappointed. Seriously, I can’t think of many (or any that I know) who would be distraught to receive a bottle of Tom Ford.

Clarisonic PLUS Skincare Brush Set ($225.00) is the latest Clarisonic, with a detachable body brush in addition to the facial brush. Like some other more price-heavy beauty items, it’s something a lot of beauty lovers lust after but can’t commit to purchasing–the exact reasons why it makes for an excellent gift to receive!

Guerlain Le Rouge G de Guerlain Lipstick ($45.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a creamy, smooth, pigmented lipstick formula that applies and clings to lips without drying them. It has the most subtle, yet noticeable, shimmer that really shines without being garish. It’s really a top formula, but the price tag definitely slots it into the luxury bag. I think I’ll go as far as to say that everyone should own at least one shade of Rouge G (I think that the line offers many, many holy grail potential shades–for the right person), but that price tag makes us all think twice… or ten times.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Collector Set (Value $425) Aqua Eyes Collector Set ($249.00) includes twenty-five shades of Make Up For Ever’s famous Aqua Eyes Eyeliner. The included shares are: Aqua Eyes in Champagne 23L, Fuschia Pink 13L, Purple 11L, Black Purple 6L, Shimmering Plum 4L, Burgandy 18L, Pearly Brown 2L, Light Brown 19L, Light Taupe 24L, Bronze Green 5L, Bronze 10L, Gold 9L, Pistachio 17L, Green 16L, Forest Green 20L, Turquoise 7L, Blue With Green Highlights 12L, Majorelle Blue 15L, Iridescent Navy Blue 3L, Mat Black 0L, Star Black 1L, Dark Grey 21L, Grey 22L, Silver 8L, White 14L. T3 Bespoke Labs Evolution Dryer ($300.00) will cut your gift recipient’s blow drying time in half, most likely! This is one of those products often overlooked in lieu of sparkly new makeup, but it is an absolute essential if you blow dry your hair regularly.

When I think luxury, I think of products that feel like an experience–decadent, luxurious, and satisfying–and often are items I wouldn’t myself purchase but would love to receive. In that vein, I’ve missed the price range from as low as $45 to as high as $249. At the end of day, luxury can be incredibly personal, but these are some of my personal favorites.

Chanel Les Tissages Lames de Chanel (Shimmering Tweed Highlighter) ($60.00) is a beautiful composition of a tweed patterned highlighter that’s golden and bronze without being too much. (You can read my full review here.)

Jo Malone Deluxe Soap Collection ($85.00 for 8 1.8 oz. Soaps) is a really lovely gift to give to someone that enjoys a little luxury during their day-to-day routine. I love the soaps I have from Jo Malone, both from a scent perspective as well as the quality and how moisturizing they are. (You can read my full review here.)

Jo Malone Cologne Collection ($95.00 for 6 0.3 oz. bottles) includes Sweet Lime and Cedar, Grapefruit, Lime Basil and Mandarin, Nectarine Blossom and Honey, Pomegranate Noir, and White Jasmine and Mint scents.

Creme de la Mer ($130.00 for 1 oz.) is a rich, ultra thick moisturizing cream. It’s a bit heavy for my skin, but this is something my mom loves. My mom, for reference, is the total beauty minimalist. She doesn’t wear makeup and probably has more makeup as many times in her lifetime as I have in the past two weeks! I tell her SPF and she looks at me like I’m crazy. (Bless her for having such amazing genetics–I hope I age half as well as she has!) Anyway, my mom can’t rave enough about La Mer. I’m pretty sure I’ll be buying her a jar come Christmas myself!

Clarisonic PLUS Skincare Brush Set ($225.00) is the latest Clarisonic, with a detachable body brush in addition to the facial brush. I also like the Mia, for a more affordable version, but that’s not really appropriate for a luxury gift guide, yeah? (You can read my review of the Mia and original Clarisonic for reference.)

Guerlain Voyage Imperiale Meteorites Voyage Compact ($170.00) is a decadent pressed highlighter that applies subtly, softly, and looks beautiful. This is truly a luxe item–and I envy anyone who happens to receives this as a gift this year!

Kate Somerville ‘ExfoliKate’ Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($175.00 for 5 oz.) is a gentle exfoliating treatment that works with fruit enzymes that give a little tingle when you use this product. For those with more sensitive skin, I do recommend Kate Somerville ‘ExfoliKate Gentle’ Exfoliating Treatment instead. I’ve only tried the original formula, which has worked well on my skin thus far (I use it about once or twice a week in the shower)!

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Eyes Collector Set ($249.00) includes twenty-five shades of Make Up For Ever’s famous Aqua Eyes Eyeliner. It’s a value set, even if it is a heavy investment. I love Aqua Eyes, and I can definitely tell you this set tempted me on more than one occasion (I managed to resist my staring at the dozens and dozens of liners I have sitting in a drawer already). This is kind of the Big Daddy set of eyeliners.

Sometimes us beauty addicts just love to share our love for all that is beauty, but not everyone in our life is nearly as dedicated as us… enter beauty-themed gifts that are great to receive, even if you’re not a beauty buff.

Whenever I look to give a beauty-ish gift to someone I know doesn’t wear makeup much or isn’t big on spending that much time getting ready, I like to compromise and include a beauty gift alongside something else, so I tend to look for affordable beauty gifts that are fun to give and receive, but I won’t be devastated if they don’t use it much!

These are just comfortable, very sheer color that keeps lips moisturized, so even those who have no desire to pump up their lip color can enjoy these. Clinique High Shine To-Go Set ($30.00) is a nifty candy box filled with twelve miniature-sized Long Last Glosswears. I love Long Last Glosswears for sheer color that lasts, truly, for hours. (The only way I’d be happy with these if they put out some ultra pigmented ones, too, because the formula is great.) You get the following shades (each 0.035 oz.): Air Kiss, Cabana Crush, Clearly Pink, Juicy Apple, Whisper, Mystic, First Blush, Sunset, Brandy Twist, Guava Gold, Fireberry, and Bamboo Pink.

Whether you’re shopping for a gift to give a younger sister, a darling niece, maturing daughter, or your newly-turned-beauty-addict best friend… these are some of my favorites to give to someone who’s just beginning their journey into the realm of beauty.

These are the types of gifts and products I look out for when I’m giving beauty products to someone who is just starting out:

Palettes/sets — particularly if they come with explanations or obvious color combinations
Sheerer lip color, easy to work into any look
Affordable, products with more bang for your buck
Color — particularly if I’m giving to someone younger, I always try to give gifts with lots of color, so they can experiment

NARS Love Me Set ($49.00) is a great introduce-yourself-to-NARS set with a blush/highlighting duo featuring Orgasm (yes, the famous shade!) and Albatross, along with Orgasm lipgloss. I also find NARS Cosmetics Palettes make great gifts with their sleek, no frills packaging and the shades included. Just in time for the holidays, NARS launched two to celebrate their 15th anniversary (Everlasting Love and Wild at Heart–each retailing for $75). However, my top palette pick for the newly addicted is their Essential Eye Palette ($55.00), which includes eyeshadows in Unconditional Love, Night Star, Galapagos, Nepal, Ondine, and Thunderball. Stila Barbie Loves Stila Palette ($28.00) is one of the most amazing eyeshadow palettes I’ve had the pleasure to come across. It’s vibrant, has a good variety of shades housed inside of it, and the quality is superb. They’re ultra soft, smooth shadows with incredible pigmentation that blend seamlessly.

Trish McEvoy The Voyager Set ($65.00) is a really great starter-kit for any new-to-beauty buff in your life. It comes with Trish’s gorgeous All Over Face Color Quad, as well as Iced Bordeaux Gilded Lip Color, Golden Glaze Lip Color, White Peach Glaze Eye Shadow, and Deep Aubergine Eye Definer housed in a sleek, slim “Emergency Card” palette. The palette fits easily in a cute case that also includes four short-handled brushes. A great all-in-one kit!

Stila Lip Glaze Collection ($25.00) is a great way to put a smile on your favorite Stila girl or introduce a pal to the world of Stila on warp speed! This set includes eight miniature-sized Lip Glazes: Blackberry, Candy, Cranberry, Kitten, Marmalade, Pinkle Twinkle, Plum Fairy, and Starfruit. You may also want to peep the Stila Kitten Collection ($18.00), because it includes their best-selling Kitten eyeshadow as well as their Kitten Lip Glaze.

MAC Eyeshadow Palettes ($36.00) are the latest holiday palettes to debut from MAC for the 2009 holiday season. They put out four variations: Devil May Dare, Mystic, Smoke and Mirrors, and Sorceress. (You can see my full reviews here.) For someone with more natural taste, try Smoke and Mirrors; while Devil May Dare has great earth-tones and Sorceress has lots of fun, cool-toned shades. Mystic is kind of a mixed bag, so it may fit for that person you can’t decide on whether they’re about color or about the natural. You may also like to give (or receive, of course) MAC’s Pigment Sets ($32.50) or their Lipgloss Sets ($29.50).
