Smashbox Phantom Be Legendary Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a grayish beige with subtle, warmer pink undertones and a natural sheen. It looked grayer in the tube than applied; and as the coverage was only semi-opaque, it looked pinker applied to my lips than it did swatched on my arm (which has a warmer, yellower natural color) and as compared to the tube.

The Be Legendary formula is supposed to have “rich, vibrant color” that is long-wearing and moisturizing. Phantom was lightly creamy with a touch of tackiness, but it never felt truly sticky or clingy on the lips. The lipstick glided over my lips without dragging or tugging and yielded even coverage, though it wasn’t opaque. This shade lasted for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating.

Smashbox Grunge Be Legendary Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark grayish purple-taupe with neutral-to-warm undertones and a natural finish. It had medium coverage that was somewhat builable–to semi-opaque but not to full coverage.

The Be Legendary formula is supposed to have “rich, vibrant color” that is long-wearing and moisturizing. The color of Grunge is fascinating, because it isn’t one we see a lot, but the translucency is going to make it look different from person to person. It looked pinker and warmer on me, due to my natural lip color coming through. I wish it was as pigmented as the brand claimed, and the coverage could go on more evenly. The texture was smooth, lightly emollient, but it had a tackiness that made it a little harder to spread across the lips. It lasted for four and a half hours and was moisturizing.
