Surratt Beauty Artistique Blush ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is available in ten shades from a highlighter to a deepened red. I reviewed all of these last year after I visited a Barney’s location and saw Surratt’s range for the first time. Of all the products I swatched at the counter, I left with all ten shades–they were that impressive in texture, even after being swatched by dozens before me. I never did a roundup of them when I finished reviewing the range, and since several asked me about reviewing the range, a roundup seemed like the perfect way to dust off those old posts The texture is remarkable, as it is a powder product, but it is so finely-milled, silky, and smooth, that it feels like a cream, and despite all that silkiness, it doesn’t feel or turn powdery. The finish is subtle and luminous, so it’s flattering on the skin. I would love to see an expansion of the shade range to include more mid-tone and deeper shades, like a cool-toned berry, rusty brown, and medium pink.

If you’re unfamiliar with Surratt’s range, all of the powder products are designed to be put into palettes (the brand has two available, but I keep mine in a Z-Palette with magnets attached to the back). Each plastic pan comes with a thin, slide-off plastic “sleeve” that’s more substantial than a plastic insert you might find with a pan eyeshadow, but it’s not sturdy enough to really withstand being put into a makeup bag or traveling. If you just keep everything in a vanity or train case, I think you can leave it as-is without getting a palette for it.
