Round-up: Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick | Top 25 Shades+ Overview

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipsticks

Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge Lipstick ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to be long-wearing, “extremely pigmented,” and hydrating. It is available in two finishes–Cream and Matte, indicated by the C or M in the beginning of each shade’s name. The Cream formula is richly pigmented, lightly creamy without being too emollient or slippery, and go on smoothly and feel good while worn (wear ranges from four to eight hours, depending on the shade). The Matte formula is thinner and clings somewhat to lips, though it goes on nicely and doesn’t tug, and it doesn’t always look flattering on as it can emphasize imperfections on my lips but really depends on the shade, as some look great on. I found the Cream formula to be moderately hydrating, while the Matte formula was slightly to moderately drying. All shades had a slight, rosy scent to them, though I didn’t notice any taste.

I’ve now finished reviewing all of the shades! Hurray! Here are the top 25 of the range, but you can see the full list here. I was impressed with the range overall, and I liked that they had both more typically wearable shades as well as non-traditional colors. If you’ve tried the formula, I hope you’ll consider writing a review or quickly rating your experience as a reader! 🙂

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

No secret, I really like this line. I ended up picking up about 6 of the shades above. My fav has to be M501 because it looks super velvety on the lips, and ultra comfortable on the lips. C211 is so pretty, but ended up looking a bit flat on me. I cool it down with pencil and it is better. My fav cream choice would be C105 which is a very nice perfect level of lightness and nudeness.

Happy to hear you’ve had good results with this formula, too, Wendy! It’s pretty awesome that out of a 40ish shade range, only one C, which was the lowest score – the majority were As!

The collection? I mean, I’d go by shades more than anything else 🙂 Audacious and Amuse Bouche are both heavier, Amuse Bouche is clingier and has less shine, while Vice has a lot of finishes and types of shades, so that would be difficult to compare to this line generally.
