NYX Cosmo Lipgloss ($4.99 for 0.53 fl. oz.) is a shimmering rose gold–a lovely mix of pale pink, copper, and light copper. Applied, it looked lighter, softer, and not as warm-toned–more pink than copper came through. The finish was nearly metallic; incredibly sparkling and reflective.  It had semi-sheer coverage in terms of color, but there was so much shimmer in it, that the end result was more semi-opaque. This shade lasted three and a half hours on me and was neither hydrating nor drying.  As this one is so shimmer-packed, I do feel little bits of shimmer towards the end of wear.  Dior Paradise (732) (P, $29.50) is more coral, darker. Revlon Rosegold (DC, $7.49) is lighter. Urban Decay Naked is more pearly, less shimmery, pinker. (P, $19.00) MAC Social Light (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Blessedly Rich (LE, $15.00) is darker. Sunrise Lipgloss ($4.99 for 0.53 fl. oz.) is a medium, warm-toned red with coppery gold micro-shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage–it adds plenty of color to lips, but there is some translucency where the natural lip color comes through. I had some minor settling of the color into lip lines, but in general, it’s not easily noticed. It lasted well for four hours and was lightly hydrating. Revlon Fatal Apple (P, $7.99) is sheerer, less shimmery. MAC Mango Sheen (LE, $19.00) is also sheerer. L’Oreal Sparkle Frenzy (LE, $9.99) is darker, redder. See comparison swatches.

The Mega Shine Lip Gloss formula is supposed to “[deliver] shine, moisture and softness and [envelop] lips with glistening color.” It has a light-medium-weighted consistency that spreads evenly and easily across the lips. The texture is mostly non-sticky with some very light tackiness developing over time. I find that the scent of the formula varies from tube to tube, as some arrive with no scent, some smell almost like plastic, and then some smell like cherry cough syrup.  I didn’t notice the scent once the gloss is applied, only when I smelled the applicator or the product in the tube, and there wasn’t any noticeable taste.
