An exciting new texture option from the LIP TAR range, STAINED GLOSS combines the pigment potency of LIP TAR with a casual glossy finish that’s ready-to-wear from its first slick application to the high impact stain it leaves behind. “OCC fans have been asking to see a new take on LIP TAR that remains true to our high opacity heritage, while providing a more transparent look” says David Klasfeld, CEO and Creative Director, “We took our inspiration from art objects like stained glass windows and lighting gels. Transparent yet concentrated color that no one would dare call sheer”. LIP TAR: STAINED GLOSS can be worn alone or layered over your favorite existing shades for added depth, dimension and a glossy finish that lasts!

disappointing that these are transparent… there’s no shortage of transparent gloss on the market. what really would have been amazing is if they were able to make an opaque, non-sticky, long wearing gloss, but i guess science just hasn’t advanced that far yet. lip tars are really drying after the first couple hours, hopefully these glosses will at least beat them out in that regard. if you give them a rave review, christine, i will probably pick up jealous, and possibly androgyne in spite of myself, however.

I’m not crazy about the colors, but I would LOVE to see this product in some of their tar colors. I find the tar difficult to use, so a new formula could be fantastic.

I really want to like these, but I feel like I can only use them when I really can take my time to apply my makeup. Its really inconvenient coming out of the tube like that and having to use a lip brush.

oooohhhh I love it. I bet they can be mixed with existing lip tars to punch up their glossiness. I swear I’m like a Lip Tar artist— I just mix colors together on my hands BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL SO PRETTY.

I have only been using lip tars for about a year and in that time they have gone from $16, to $18, and now 22.50? Not really liking this trend…

I really want to try New Wave and Jealous! But I’ll wait for your reviews and swatches because it seems like this product will either be a huge flop or a huge success! I love OCC and that they’re trying something new. Lip Tars are my favorite, but new endeavors sometimes make me nervous with my favorite brands!

Oh how convenient! I was thinking of getting something from OCC for my birthday in three weeks! 😀 This is perfect. Don’t know if I’ll buy (have to see reviews) but hey, new OCC in more colors I like!

I’m really interested in seeing the texture/opacity of these glosses, but i’ll wait for blogger swatches and not press release photos

As much as I want to try these lip products I need them to put them in a container that allows me to apply it with using my fingers OR a lip brush. When they do that, I’ll invest in them.

You could easily squeeze a little bit on your finger and apply that way if using your fingers is what you want to do. I saw plenty of ladies doing this very thing at IMATS NY when they were swatching the colors (I just observed…I already knew what I wanted and promptly handed my list over to be filled…but a friend needed to swatch). Usually hear people complain that they can’t just apply directly from the tube like a regular lipstick or gloss…

I’m a Nurse by training and a bit of a germaphobe when it come to my hands and putting things on my mouth. Yes I know you can sanitize your hands but even doing that you are wiping SOME germs from your hands onto to your mouth…that freaks me out.

I know we have germs on our lips but I just can’t (never have) used a lip product that I have to put on with my fingers.

At this price point I don’t want to have to use my hands or a carry a lip brush…seems like that could get messy.

I’ll pass on these product until an applicator is available again.

🙁

That won’t happen though because people had complained that was a messier application. OCC and Sephora sell them in mini-vinyl pouches with the Lip Tar, mini lip brush and a card with application tips so you aren’t getting JUST the Lip Tar for $18. Throw the pouch in your bag and you’ll be mess free! It’s a good idea to keep your brush and Lip Tar together like that, keeps the mess off your bag and you don’t have to go hunting for the brush.

Technically an applicator was never available. Even when they had the old slant tip you weren’t supposed to apply lip tars like you would a gloss (straight from the tube) or you were asking for bleed/feather city. Not to mention for most people the wear time is far longer than traditional lipsticks or glosses so you probably wouldn’t have to reapply anyway or if you must I’d think it would only happen once (I’ve never had to though so I’m just guessing).

Alex Avatar

You can use your lip brush! Or even your fingers, maybe but I imagine that to be very messy. The product comes out the same way the UD primer potion or TFSI does~

am i the only one that wishes OCC would re-format the delivery of the lip tar?! i love the product but i only use it when i have time in the morning and cannot find a way to throw it in my purse and re-apply throughout the day! i don’t know how but i would love for OCC to make this process easier for on the go ladies 😉
