NARS Versailles Nail Polish Review, Photos, Swatches from NARS Summer 2010 Collection
The Classy, Sophisticated Way to Wear Gold
NARS Versailles Nail Polish ($16.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is a softened yellow gold with champagne shimmer woven through. It has a slightly metallic look to it. It’s very spring-into-summer–the softness of the gold makes it like a gilded yellow, perfect for spring, but it has the shimmer and sheen that makes it great for summer, too. The formula runs a little thick, but it applies easily and goes opaque in two coats. I like that this is a gold that can be worn by cooler and warmer skin tones–it’s not a true yellow gold, so it should still complement those with pinker undertones!

How does this compare to Chanel’s gold lame? Which one do you prefer Christine? 🙂
Gold Lame is more of a true yellow gold – this is much softer, lighter, paler. I prefer this one, just because it doesn’t show brushstrokes as much as Gold Lame does. But if I layer Illusion d’Or over Gold Lame, then it’s all over!
Oh I’m lovin’ this!!! It matches my iPhone case: http://www.ultra-case.com/product.php?pID=191
hmm… I don’t USUALLY care to match my nails to my phone…
I love NARS and all but I still think I prefer the Chanel Gold Lame polish over this one. Don’t know if that’s the right name but I prefer that shade and also the other one with just the gold sparkle, Illusion D’Or – I think??
The two shades are pretty different, IMO! Like this is a very pale, champagne-gold, but Chanel’s Gold Lame is more of a true yellow gold. I like Illusion d’Or so much – probably one of my favorites for summer!
lovely colour… but a bit too expensive for me…
That is SO pretty. Makes me want to jump in a field of daffodils…
I love and want Chanel’s Gold Lame 🙁 but this is also very beautiful! I may have something similar from Bourjois though. The swatches are very pretty! 🙂
I really love this one. Most of the time, I just don’t want my nails to be metallic, flashy, or glittery, but I still want gold.
it’s more of a yellow gold than I anticipated
Seconded! I was really excited by this shade in the promo shots, but now I’m thinking I’ll definitely have to swatch before I buy.
This is really pretty. The Chanel Gold Lame (sorry, I know there’s an accent in Lame but can’t think of how to do it with my keyboard…) is too warm for me, but I can see wearing this with Illusion D’Or on top.
That’s really pretty! I’ve had bad luck with NARS nail polish in the past but maybe I’ll give it another shot for this color. It’s not often you see a pale gold like that.
The Chanel Gold Lamé is TOO warm for my skintone, so I think this NARS polish will be much more complimentary for me.
Oh, as a tech hint, to type the accent for the letter “e”, type the word and when you get to the e, hold the ALT key down and type the number on your keypad “0233”. You will get é.
Oh I am in LOVE with this.
