NARS Luxembourg Satin Lip Pencil

NARS Luxembourg Satin Lip Pencil ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as “vivid watermelon.” It’s a vibrant, pinky-red with a satin finish. There’s quite a bit of pink in it, so while it calls to mind certain famous reds, I don’t think it matches because it has such strong pink coloring. MAC Ronnie Red is redder. NARS Dragon Girl is deeper. NYX Chic Red is darker.

It’s a rather bright, rich color that applied mostly opaque on the lips. I found that this shade stained very quickly and readily, which helped make it wear longer, too–a solid six hours with a residual stain that continued on for another two (of course, tapering down over those hours). Luxembourg didn’t feather or bleed on me, which is always good news with a shade as bright as this! It had a thin texture that felt lightweight on the lips, but it wasn’t hydrating–I would not say it was drying, though. If you like your reds with a lot of pink, you’ll like this shade, because from afar, it looks more pink than it does red, which is what makes it less dupable.
