NARS Lipsticks 2019 (x30) | Swatches
Launching June 29th at Nordstrom (and August 1st at other retailers), NARS Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) celebrates the brand’s 25th anniversary with a total revamp of their core lipstick range. There will be 72 shades in the range, and I have 30 of those shades, which are swatched in this post:
Wow i hope Dolce Vita made the cut. I love the sheers. Cruising looks nice too. I used to love Niagara in college.
I posted all of the information previously here: https://www.temptalia.com/nars-lipsticks-25th-anniversary-with-72-shades/
Afghan Red, Damage and Tolede are definitely beautiful shades! Very much my taste for a more toned down lip, too.
Soul Train is PERFECT for my more usual type of bolder shade, though!
I have not historically enjoyed this range of lipsticks (with the exception of Niagara, one of the few pinks I really like). They just haven’t really worn well and tend to wear off very patchily and unevenly, lots of weird texture issues, etc. Let’s see how the reformulation addresses these issues!
I’m with you, Tessa. I want to love!
A “revamp.” So the formula/ingredients have changed?
I don’t have any ingredient lists as I just received the lipsticks in a press kit (no retail packaging/boxes etc.).
On the NARS website product listing, it mentions “Innovative new formula” so it does look like the range has been reformulated.
Rosecliff looks like a pretty warm nude brown. Will wait for your review.
Can’t wait til you give these lipsticks a rating so I know which ones will be worth purchasing ???
Christine the Audacious Lipsticks are not going away with this launch are they?
NARS didn’t mention anything about Audacious. I don’t typically receive any news of a product being discontinued by the brand, just FYI. Even when I ask, the answer is usually “I don’t know” or “not that we know of” (even when it occurs).
Thanks for the response! I do wish brands would be more open when they are discontinuing products, it does seem like they like to avoid saying it outright a lot. I’m hoping they’re safe since none of the names are found in this line ????
Fire Down Below, maybe a nod to Bob Seger and one of the first of FN’s shock names, was my drop dead fave in the mid 90s. So many people loved it, that I had to gift it five times. I’ve kept the palette of the original 12 shades in a fridge, so they still live on….it was an anniversary thing, too. Fortunately, I never had the typical problems w/ the old semi-matte, etc. To me, they are oldtime classics.
Someone please give me a tip: how does one swatch all these shades in search of the perfect one? There is color, longevity, feel, and lighting to consider.
Really interested to see how the formula compares to the old one, hopefully it performs well! I’ve always been fond of the NARS sheer lipsticks especially, I find I use them a lot day to day. I’m curious about Chelsea Girls which is a shade they have in their lip gloss that they have apparently brought over into this lipstick line.
Looking at the mix they sent here, it seems a bit strange to me that they didn’t send over the Original 12 and some of the ones that are notable classics from their previous line that are also available in the new rendition, e.g. Schiap, Pigalle, Barbarella, Dolce Vita, Roman Holiday etc. plus most of the original 12 shades like Jungle Red, Heat Wave, Honolulu Honey, Funny Face, Morocco and more. Though I guess if they sent all 72 shades Christine’s lips might fall off from all the swatching! ^_^;
Oooh yippee! I’m a big fan of the colour selection of the old Nars lipsticks and wear Tolede, Dolce Vita and Pigalle as my everyday lipsticks! I was feeling so worried they would be discontinued forever so very relieved that the colours live on…. (Tolede looks a tad darker and redder in this version though…). Hope the formula is even better! I struggled with the slip of the audacious line and couldn’t wear a lot of the colours from them having a white base 🙁
72 lipsticks… Too overwhelming…
Its a big turn off for me, having so much to chose from. I’d much rather be faced with maximum 10 colors to chose from…
“Full Time Females,” as if there’s another option. I would like to know why I wasn’t made aware of the part-time position when I applied. I want flexible hours!
Afghan Red is beautiful
