Marc Jacobs Beauty Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a new, pencil eyeshadow formula for fall. It’s described as a “shimmering cream eyeshadow formula” that “glides on smooth in one swipe for instant buildable coverage.” The consistency is thin, cool, and almost like water when it touches the skin. It glides on very easily without skipping or tugging on the lid. Both of these shades lasted for nine hours without creasing or fading, though there was a smidgen of sparkle fall out. I can see this formula working for someone who’s looking for shimmer and sparkle with minimal work, who may only want to use one or two colors at a time. I think the lighter shades would be great for an all-over brightening look and off you go, but they’re best used one or two at a time as they don’t blend too well with each other as they set quickly. I found this formula to have a very similar look and feel to Chanel’s Stylo Eyeshadow.

Full disclosure: I tried these on my lower lash line, and I had the most searing pain in my eye; I couldn’t even wait to grab a cotton pad to remove it (I couldn’t keep my eye open long enough to find one), so I just splashed my eyes with water and all of the eyeshadow washed away and my eyes instantly felt better. I had only applied it as an eyeliner to the lower lash line (but not the water line) on one eye, but once one eye started blinking and watering, the other one did (causing the eyeshadow on the lid to move), and then both were excruciatingly painful. I don’t know that I’ve ever had a beauty product give me such a vicious, instant reaction. Wearing them purely as an eyeshadow on the eyelid didn’t result in any painful reactions, and when I removed them with a cleansing oil, nothing was amiss either.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Honey Bunny (400) Twinkle Pop Eye Stick ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “ballet pink shimmer.” It’s a champagne peach with a frosted, sparkling finish. It was semi-opaque in a single stroke and buildable to just shy of full coverage with two to three layers. Make Up For Ever S-52 (P, $21.00) is lighter. Divergent Humble Sheen (LE) is powder. Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze #1 (P) is a powder. Too Faced Cheers! (LE, $16.00) is a powder. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Starlet #2 (P) is lighter, powder. Urban Decay Sin (P, $20.00) is similar. It had semi-opaque pigmentation when applied in one stroke, and it was buildable to opaque color coverage with two layers. MAC Sexy Eyes (LE, $15.00) is lighter, more orange.
