Marc Jacobs Beauty Hi-Fi Filter #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder ($49.00 for 0.62 oz.) includes a highlighter and contouring powder. The lighter shade is supposed to “subtly illuminate,” while the darker shade “offers sheer shadow to define.” There are three variations in the formula, and this appears to be the darkest of the three. The texture of both sides was incredibly finely-milled and smooth, while the highlighter was a smidgen powdery, neither looked powdery on the skin. The compact is incredibly large but thin, and the lid seemed extraordinarily thin as it tapered towards the edge, which made it seem almost flimsy along the edge (where it clasps together).

Highlighter is described as a “warm peach.” It’s a muted, light-medium yellowed peach with a matte finish. It’s a medium to buildable product with a soft, silky texture that gets a wee bit powdery if you’re not careful. My skin tone isn’t the best to showcase the highlighting shade, as it gets pretty lost on my skin tone (it’s more my skin tone than lighter or darker), unfortunately. The powder sat well on my cheek bones, though, and seemed to make the skin appear almost blurred. From what I could tell, it seemed to wear eight hours before breaking down. Contour is described as a “deep bronze.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle warm undertones and a satin finish. I wish the finish of the bronzer was also reflected in the highlighter, because it would give a very natural finish–it’s not shimmery, but it looks like skin without being totally flat/matte. The texture was silky, smooth, and very blendable on the skin without being powdery. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me. MAC Matte Bronze (LE, $70.00) is more matte, grayer. MAC Scone (LE, $25.00) is rosier. Tarte Park Ave. Princess (P, $29.00) is similar. MAC Tan Tint (LE, $29.50) is darker, cream. Benefit Hoola (P, $28.00) is slightly less warm-toned.
